Christmas at the Botanical Garden

The annual arrival of Christmas at the Botanical Garden is back until January 6, 2020 a holiday event of art, entertainment and science that the Botanical Garden dedicates to the public during the winter season.

The Botanical Garden of the University of Padua invites the public to take part in a rich calendar of activities. Including creative workshops, family friendly performances, concerts, special guided tours, and extended evening hours.  Visit the Botanical Garden to see the installation "Radici al vento, testa nella terra" by artist Michele De Lucchi, in collaboration with Arte Sella, and the exhibition "Second Nature" by the artist Quayola.

Throughout the winter season, every weekend and during public holidays, individual guided tours are free. With the price of an admission ticket, this initiative has been well enjoyed by the public, making use of the beloved naturalistic guides of the Botanical Garden

During the pre-Christmas weekend of December 21st and 22nd as well as Sunday, January 5th, activities for families, extended evening hours, and shows will be held.

On Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of December, the Botanical Garden will remain open until 8pm showing the public the beauty of the gardens at night, last admission is at 7.15pm.

Sunday, January 5, the evening hours are extended until 10.30pm, last admission is at 9.45 pm.

Featured in the 2019 edition will be, among others, the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, with a special performance of violins and narration of The Magic Flute, as well as Gruppo Alcuni, with an interactive installation and creative workshops dedicated to genius of Leonardo da Vinci.  Returning from their tour in China, and to welcome in the New Year, the Playtoy Orchestra, the first band in the world using toys as instruments will perform.

Altogether, these events offer a family friendly program suitable for audiences of all ages, including ecological reuse laboratories, animated readings, and holiday shows. Welcoming Santa's helpers, curated by Ullalà Teatro and Rosso Teatro, interactive performances of music, art, science, and entertainment, all under the theme of caring for the planet.

All activities are included in the entrance ticket to the Garden.
