The 2025 Premio Italia Giovane has recognised Chiara Anzolini, from the Department of Biology at the University of Padua, as one of the ten winners for her dedication to making scientific knowledge accessible to everyone.
The initiative, promoted by the Associazione Giovani per Roma, is now in its twelfth edition and is aimed at young people under 35 who have distinguished themselves in various fields such as science, culture, and social engagement. This year, from over 240 applications reviewed by the Honour Committee of the Award, 10 winners were selected, including Chiara Anzolini, for her excellence in scientific research and science communication activities. The award highlights her work in combining high-level scientific results with a commitment to making science accessible and relevant to society through innovative and interdisciplinary projects. The award ceremony took place on 25th November at the LUISS Business School in Rome.
The Premio Italia Giovane, conceived by Franco Frattini, former President of the Council of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, honours stories of young talents who generate positive impacts in the country, rewarding paths that combine merit, innovation, and civic responsibility. The award has received prestigious institutional recognitions and has honoured notable figures such as Olympic athletes Simona Quadarella and Francesca Cipelli, and world memory champion Andrea Muzii.
Chiara Anzolini, born in 1990 in Tolmezzo (UD), is a researcher and lecturer at the University of Padua. After earning her degree and PhD in Earth Sciences, she completed a post-doctorate in Canada studying super-deep diamonds, with results published in journals like Nature and PNAS, and recognised by various scientific institutions. In addition to research, Anzolini is dedicated to science communication and obtained a Master's degree from SISSA in Trieste. She currently works at the National Biodiversity Future Centre, developing creative and interdisciplinary science communication projects. In 2025, she won second place at the Premio Nazionale GiovedìScienza for her ability to combine excellence in research with communication skills, aiming to build bridges between research, institutions, and the public.
