Applications for intergenerational cohabitation open until October 5

Italian version

01.10.2025

Until October 5, students looking for accommodation for the 2025/2026 academic year can apply to take part in the intergenerational cohabitation initiative promoted by the Municipality of Padua.

By matching students’ housing needs with the availability of landlords and landladies, the intergenerational cohabitation project aims to foster an alliance between young people searching for housing in the city and Padua residents over 65 who are willing to share their home with a student.

To apply, candidates must fill out the online form, where they can also indicate some preferences regarding the desired accommodation.

The number of cohabitations may vary depending on the applications received from homeowners willing to make their homes available. For this reason, accommodation cannot be guaranteed to all applicants. This new application phase has been made possible thanks to new availabilities offered by landlords and landladies, particularly for housing in peripheral areas of the city.

Homeowners over 65 interested in hosting students can continue to express their availability by completing the online form.

The project, launched as an initiative of the University of Padua’s Pro-Rectorate for the Right to Education, began experimentally in summer 2023 with a working group coordinated by the Municipality in collaboration with the University of Padua, ESU, and social partners. One of these experiences was also featured in an episode of Pif’s program Caro Marziano: watch the episode online.
