Once again this year, the university branch of Libera against the mafias, named after the camorra victim Silvia Ruotolo, with the support of the University of Padua, commemorates the innocent victims of the mafia by gathering their names and stories.

The initiative, which takes place on Tuesday 18 March at 3 p.m. in the ancient courtyard of Palazzo del Bo, has been held annually in Padua since 2019, on the occasion of the day of remembrance and commitment in memory of the innocent victims of the mafia.

A symbolic place of university education and the motto of the University "Universa Universis Patavina Libertas", the ancient courtyard also hosts an installation this year consisting of 1101 coloured sheets, bearing the names and stories of women, men, young people, girls and boys, workers, passers-by, students, elderly people, pupils, mechanics, shopkeepers and many, many others, innocent victims of the mafia.

The national day of remembrance and commitment in memory of the innocent victims of the mafia represents a moment of reflection, discussion and meeting, of vibrant relationships and testimonies around the families of the innocent victims of the mafia, people who have suffered great wounds that we can all help to heal, by building a shared memory together starting from the stories of those people.

Be a part of this initiative and help with setting up the courtyard: register online.
