On arrival
Upon arrival in Padova, students must book an appointment to register their arrival and receive the Unipd badge. The appointment is necessary to confirm the presence in Padova and allow the Mobility Sector to produce the arrival certificate.
Appointments are scheduled from the week before to the week after the start of the semester.
The Mobility Department will send an email to students with all the information related to how and when to book the appointment.
For students who collect their badge before the start of the semester, the arrival date that will be shown in the Certificate of Attendance is the start date of the semester and not an earlier date.
Certificate of arrival
After collecting the badge, the arrival certificate is sent by email to certify the start date of the mobility period in Padova.
Only if the university of origin needs a specific template: after receiving the Unipd arrival certificate, students can upload their University's template to Mobility Online by following the instructions in the same email with which the Unipd arrival certificate was sent.
The certificate is sent via email only.
Students who start practical activities (dissertation, workshops, traineeship) before the official start date semester can contact erasmus.incoming@unipd.it
Students must pay a fee of €22.50 which includes insurance (€6.50) and reimbursement of administrative costs (€16.00). This contribution is mandatory for all those who enrol at the University of Padova, even if they are already covered by private or national insurance.
The insurance of the University of Padova covers all accidents that may occur on the way from home to university, during lessons or inside ESU canteens.
It is possible to pay the contribution of €22.50 without commissions through PagoPA, which guarantees electronic payments to the public administration in a secure and reliable way and to which every Public Administration is obliged to adhere. To make the payment, you must access the "Contribution" section of the Uniweb reserved area. For more information, see the https://www.unipd.it/pago-pa page
The Welcome Days are welcome days dedicated to students arriving at the University of Padova through international mobility programs (Erasmus+ for Studies, SEN Coimbra Group, Swiss European Mobility Programme, ARQUS Alliance Mobility Programme, Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree, Bilateral Agreements, Double and Joint Degrees).
During the Welcome Days, students get in touch with the University and the city of Padova and receive all the necessary information to make their stay more profitable.
Welcome Days are held at the beginning of each semester.
Classes can start before or after the official semester/term start dates published in the University Academic Calendar. To be sure of the start date of each course unit, you should check the class schedule of each course, which should be available between 4 and 2 weeks before the start of classes.
It is not necessary to enrol in the courses, simply register for each course on the Moodle e-learning platform, use the OrariUnipd app and fill in the study plan on Uniweb (see the section "During your stay").
Students will receive detailed instructions on how to do so during the Welcome Days, and by email.
The Mobility Desk of the Project and Mobility Office contacts all students who do not have European citizenship by email to provide detailed information on how to send the application for a residence permit or how to deliver the Declaration of Presence at the Police Headquarters in case the student has a valid EU permit issued in an EU country.
The application for a residence permit or Declaration of Presence must be submitted within 8 working days (i.e. from Monday to Friday) starting from the day after entry into Italy.
In order to apply for a Residence Permit or Declaration of Presence, you must be in possession of:
- passport;
- residence permit issued by an EU country (for Declaration of Presence);
- 4 passport-sized passport photos (only 2 for the Declaration of Presence);
- 1 revenue stamp of €16.00 (available at tobacconists);
- Insurance: photocopy of the policy/certificate. Health insurance must be taken out by an insurance company that has a national office with campuses in Italy to contact in case of emergency. Please note: the insurance used to obtain the visa may not have the characteristics required for a residence permit; for students with a valid EU residence permit the European Health Insurance Card issued in that EU country is sufficient
- Confirmation of arrival: The Mobility Desk of the Project and Mobility Office provides students with a document certifying the date of arrival and the duration of the stay, which is necessary for the application for a residence permit or Declaration of Presence;
- photocopy of all written pages of the passport (the main page and all pages with visas/stamps);
- Rental contract/communication of hospitality: all those who stay in a university residence sign a contract ("Deed of Accommodation Acceptance") at the SASSA Service upon arrival: a photocopy of this document is given to the student and is sufficient for the application for a residence permit/declaration of presence. On the other hand, those who choose private accommodation must attach a copy of the rental contract signed and registered at the Agenzia delle Entrate the "Hospitality Communication", which must be sent by the owner within 48 hours from the time the student moved into the apartment;
- Tax ID: This document is provided by the Mobility desk of the Project and Mobility Office.
Once your residence permit application is complete, you must send the envelope to any Post Office. The cost of applying for a residence permit, to be paid directly to the Post Office, is approximately €100.00.
The Post Office issues 3 receipts attesting to the application for a residence permit and containing the following information:
- date of the appointment at the Immigration Office for fingerprinting;
- proof of payment of the request;
- Username and password to check the progress of the request on the site: http://www.poliziadistato.it/articolo/view/15002/.
It is essential to take care of these three receipts, because they constitute proof of regular residence in Italy until the Police Headquarters has issued the actual residence permit; For this purpose, it is advisable to keep a photocopy in your wallet and leave the originals at home.
Students applying for a Declaration of Presence will have to follow different instructions which will be sent via email by the Mobility desk of the Project and Mobility Office.
After completing the procedures described above, non-EU citizens must upload a copy of the residence permit application (colour photocopy of each of the three sheets received at the Post Office), or a copy of the Declaration of Presence to the Mobility Online portal.
If the scholarship is paid by the University of Padova, the Mobility Desk of the Project and Mobility Office will support students in opening an Italian bank account (free at Banca Intesa Sanpaolo for UNIPD members under the age of 26) and scholarship holders will receive the first payment in about 7-10 days starting from the sending of the IBAN code to the Mobility Desk.
The travel fee and at least 70% of the individual support will be transferred to the Italian bank account of students no later than 40 days after arrival.
At the end of the Erasmus period, it will be necessary to communicate the exact departure date to the Mobility Desk and fill in the "EU Survey for Erasmus+ beneficiaries" which will be sent by email by the European Commission. The balance will be transferred to the Italian bank account and will be calculated based on the exact number of days of the stay in Italy (1 day = €28.33).
The travel fee will be paid in full regardless of the means of transport used and the costs incurred.
Students must purchase a ticket.
The travel fee is calculated based on the distance between the home university and UNIPD. The distance is calculated using the calculator provided by the European Commission.
