After the nomination has been accepted by Unipd - and not before - all students must register on Uniweb, the online platform of the University of Padova, and activate their account. Account registration and activation are mandatory and must be completed prior to application. To complete the procedure correctly and meet the requirements of each section, you must follow the steps outlined in the manual available below.
To register, visit the www.uniweb.unipd.it page, click on MENU > Registration at the top right
After registration, the student receives a provisional numeric username and an activation code to be used to activate the account in Uniweb and choose a personal password.
After activating the account in Uniweb, students must log in to Uniweb using their numeric username and password of choice. They must then click on "Apply as an exchange student" from the menu and fill out the Application form, uploading the following documents:
- A copy of both sides of your ID card OR a photocopy of your passport if you are a non-EU citizen. The document must be valid for the entire duration of the mobility
- a passport-sized photo that will be used for the Unipd badge
The Mobility Unit will check the personal data entered by the student in Uniweb and will send a confirmation via email with instructions on the next steps to follow.
Students will be asked to log in to Mobility Online using the same credentials used for Uniweb (the personal link will be provided in the confirmation email. Be careful not to share it with anyone!). The student must complete the personal data section and upload a copy of the Transcript of Records of the studies carried out in previous years (i.e. the list of exams passed at his/her university in the last semesters/years).
As far as the Learning Agreement is concerned, if the home university exchanges the Online Learning Agreement or Digital Learning Agreement (DLA) via EWP - Erasmus Without Paper, it will be necessary to confirm on Mobility Online the step "Confirm that the Digital Learning Agreement is approved by your Home University" only AFTER the home university has approved it.
The following information must be written in the DLA:
Contact person:
Caroline Witte
Email: erasmus.incoming@unipd.it
Phone Number: +39 0498275033
Responsible person for the signature:
Name: Massimiliano
Surname: Zattin
Email: erasmus.incoming@unipd.it
Phone Number: +39 0498275033
If, on the other hand, the home university does not exchange the Learning Agreement in digital format via EWP (Erasmus Without Paper), it will be possible to upload a PDF version of the Learning Agreement.
The Learning Agreement must be signed by the home university, but it does not have to be signed by the Erasmus Coordinator of the destination university (Padova). The University of Padova will sign the Learning Agreement AFTER the application procedure is completed.
You can use the template provided by the home institution; If necessary, a standard model is available for download below.
Before preparing for the LA, students are invited tocarefully read the How to choose courses at Unipd guide, where the rules and any restrictions on courses are illustrated
If you have any doubts or questions, you should not contact the academic coordinator, but the Mobility Sector, as the LAs are managed directly by the office.
Useful information for filling out the Learning Agreement:
Students must upload the following documents to Mobility Online no later than 15 days before the start of the semester/term
1) European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or health insurance policy.
The health coverage must be valid for the entire duration of the mobility. If it is about to expire, the student must renew it and upload the new certificate to Mobility Online, once obtained.
European students or residents of the European Union can attach the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
Non-European students who do not reside in the European Union require a valid private insurance in order to obtain a visa. For a Schengen visa, the health insurance must have the following characteristics:
- coverage of health expenses of at least 30,000 euros
- Coverage of emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of the body
ATTENTION: health insurance, necessary to obtain an Italian residence permit, must also be taken out by an insurance company that has a national office campus in Italy to contact in case of emergency.
2) Language certificate of the language of instruction in Padova
- Language requirements:
B1 level of English for those attending courses taught in English
A2 level of Italian for those attending courses taught in Italian
If you attend courses in both Italian and English, a certificate is required for each language.
- Accepted documents:
OLS tests, official language certificates (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge University), Duolingo English Test, certificates of attendance of intensive courses, certificates issued by the University/a professor attesting to the level of language proficiency, Transcript of Records attesting to the passing of language exams.

Due to the limited number of places available in university residences, only students with visual, hearing or motor disabilities and those participating in certain mobility programmes can apply for accommodation (Bilateral Agreements and Erasmus+ KA171 from third countries not associated to Erasmus+, Double/Joint Degree).
These people will be invited by email to fill out an accommodation request form. Rooms will be assigned according to the chronological order of requests. We cannot guarantee that all applicants will be assigned a room.
In the event that, after the first round of assignments, some places are still available, students from other programmes (Erasmus+ KA131 from Programme Countries, ARQUS, SEMP, SEN Coimbra Group and UK Universities) will be invited by email to apply for a place in the ESU residences. In this case, priority will be given to those who hold non-European citizenship and who need a study visa to enter and stay in Italy.
Neither SASSA nor the Mobility sector responds to requests for accommodation availability from those who have not been personally invited by email to apply.
All students are advised to start looking for private accommodation as soon as the Nomination is confirmed, as the housing situation in Padova is very difficult: finding accommodation usually requires at least 5-6 weeks of research and the availability of cheap accommodation is very scarce.
Non-EU students residing outside the European Union must apply for a visa before arriving in Italy, following the instructions provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Mobility Unit will send a digital copy of the invitation letter to the student.
Non-EU students who reside in the European Union and have a valid European Residence Permit must contact the Italian diplomatic representation in the European country where they reside, to check if they need a visa to enter Italy and obtain an Italian residence permit. The invitation letter, if necessary, must be requested from the Mobility Sector.
Invitation letters will be sent only after receipt of the documents necessary for the application.
No original invitation letter will be sent by mail: the Italian consulate or embassy will receive it directly from the University of Padova by certified e-mail. The transmission of digital documents between public administrations by certified mail ("PEC – Certified Electronic Mail") is equivalent, from a legal point of view, to the transmission of original documents and complies with the digitization process implemented by the public administration in recent years.
To obtain a Schengen visa, you must have taken out a health insurance policy. The insurance criteria are described in Step 4.
The Student Services Office, in collaboration with the International Relations Area, provides a Buddy Service to support students in the context of exchange programs. All the Buddies are students of the University of Padova and their task is to welcome exchange students and be their point of reference in Padova.
The Buddy Service is free of charge, but is only provided upon request.
To be assigned to a Buddy, you must select the appropriate tick in Mobility Online, when filling in your personal data (see Step 3).
Students can attend an Italian course offered by the CLA - University Language Center for free.
Registration opens about two weeks before the start of the semester.
For more information visit the dedicated page or fill out the CLA online form.
