For information on the closure of departments, branch campuses and other University facilities, please check the respective websites.
Study rooms remain open with varying schedules, with closures only on certain days.
From 26 December to 6 January, it is possible to visit the Sala dei Giganti and Palazzo del Bo with a guided tour or independently by listening to the QR codes along the route: during the Christmas period, the tour “Palazzo Bo and the 20th century of Gio Ponti” is available. Guided tours are suspended only on 24–25–31 December and 1 January. The Guided Tours Booking Centre (049 827 3939) is also open on the same days as the visits, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In the Cortile Antico, until 23 February, CONFINE is a site-specific installation dedicated to the theme of the Olympic Truce and human rights, featuring the Olympic torches from Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2022, and Paris 2024.
In the Cortile Nuovo, meanwhile, visitors can see Indesiderate, an installation created by the artist Giacomo Segantin together with the students who participated in the Sustainable Art Prize, on display until 22 December.
For the Christmas holidays, Palazzo Liviano offers two exceptional guided and animated tours organized by teatrOrtaet, in addition to the usual opening on the first Saturday of the month.
During the holidays, the Botanical Garden is always open, except on Christmas Day and 1 January, with last admission at 1:15 p.m. on 24 and 31 December 2025. In addition to the usual visits (self-guided or guided), two exhibitions are open to the public within the Garden: the photographic exhibition Sottoterra and the exhibition Xilogenesi, a scientific, cultural and artistic project aimed at promoting and communicating the 19th-century Xylotheque of Eugenio Trevisan, a unique collection of books made of wood. These exhibitions are included in the admission ticket. After the holidays, the Botanical Garden and its plants will observe their winter rest period.
At the Museum of Nature and Humankind, free guided tours are scheduled for 20 and 21 December, and many activities are planned at several University museums.
Throughout the month of December, the Asiago Astronomical Centre offers initiatives for the public (downloadable programme Stelle di Natale), including “Astrotombola”, stargazing sessions with experts, and workshops.
The Unipd Store at Palazzo Bo is open every day with continuous hours 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) until 23 December 2025; until that date, all items are 20% off, including on the website unipdstore.it. The shop at Palazzo del Bo is closed to the public from 24 December and will reopen after 7 January 2025. The shops at the Botanical Garden and at the Museum of Nature and Humankind follow the opening days and hours of the respective sites.
Snow activities organised by CUS Padova are also back, with reduced rates for Unipd students and staff and free membership. In addition to regular courses, a cross-country skiing course and snow days are scheduled, as well as discounts on ski passes and cross-country ski centres for CUS members.
During the Christmas holidays, from 8 December to 6 January, the Municipality of Padua offers free admission to Palazzo della Ragione, Palazzo Zuckermann, the Eremitani Museum, the Museum of the Risorgimento and the Contemporary Age, and the Torre degli Anziani (by reservation) to Unipd students (with student record book or badge), including Erasmus students, as well as to all residents of Padua and the surrounding province. On 25 and 26 December 2024 and 1 January, the museums are closed.
In addition, until 26 January, students can skate at a discounted price at the ice rink in Prato della Valle, Padua.
On the occasion of the Christmas period, until 24 December 2025, a series of concessions on public transport, shuttle services and parking facilities are planned to improve mobility and traffic in the city.
