Study in English - How to apply
If you have an international entry qualification, please follow the instructions below
- If you have an Italian entry qualification, please refer to the relevant page.
- Choose your degree programme and carefully check its entry requirement
- Prepare all required documents (in PDF format)
- Register on apply.unipd.it by clicking on “Become an applicant” and filling in the form.
- Use the applicant code you receive by email to “Sign In” and complete your application. Make sure you have filled in all the fields and uploaded all necessary documents before clicking on “Submit”. Please note that you can apply to up to 2 degree programmes. Do not register more than once by using different email addresses, otherwise your applications will be rejected.
- Pay the application fee (€60). The application fee is not refundable. You will receive a link for the payment by email. ONLY if you are applying for degree programme(s) CEnT-S test as per the degree programme entry requirement, do NOT proceed with the payment of the application fee but register for the required CEnT-S test and pay the 55 Euro registration fee on the CISIA website.
- Wait for the evaluation feedback. Please note that your application is checked by the Admissions and Welcome Unit first, and then evaluated by a dedicated Academic Committee.
If you applied for a degree programme with an unlimited number of places, you will be notified of the evaluation via the application platform.
If you applied for a degree programme with a limited number of places, please check the admission results In order to complete your enrolment, follow the instructions provided in the How to enrol section.

Degree programmes with an unlimited number of places
Call One: November 2, 2025 - February 2, 2026

Degree programmes with a limited number of places
Call One (only for non-EU citizens residing outside Italy): January 7 - March 7, 2026

Please note that:
- Master’s degree programmes in Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies and Medical Biotechnologies will open for Call Three only for EU citizens and non-EU citizens residing in Italy;
Some degree programmes may open a Call Three only for EU citizens and non-EU citizens residing in Italy.

When submitting your online application, please upload colour scanned copy (PDF format) of the following documents:
Bachelor's degree programmes
- Curriculum Vitae (Résumé) in English;
- Motivational Letter(s) in English;
- If you applied to a degree programme requiring the CEnT-S test proof of registration to and subsequently the results of the test;
- Transcript of records;
- Upper secondary school certificate achieved after at least 12 years of school attendance. If you have yet to obtain your final qualification, an enrolment or provisional certificate is also accepted.
- Certificate proving the completion of 1 or 2 years of academic studies, or a post-secondary qualification, or a foundation course qualification (only if you apply for a Bachelor's degree programme and you do not have a minimum 12-year school record);
- Certificate of entrance examination to access university, if required by law in the country where you have been awarded your upper secondary school certificate (e.g. Selectividad in Spain, Prova de Aferiçao or Prova Geral de Acesso ao Ensino Superior in Portugal, Vestibular or Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio in Brazil, Gao Kao in China);
- Valid ID card (only for EU citizens and non-EU citizens residing in Italy or passport;
- Residence permit (only for non-EU citizens residing in Italy);
- English Language certificate or other language certifications (if required - please check entry requirements for each programme);
- Any other document required (please check entry requirements for each programme).
If needed, the Admissions and Welcome Unit may request the Statement of Comparability of your upper secondary school diploma as issued by CIMEA (Italy’s Credential Information System) if further verification of the qualification is deemed necessary. The certification may be obtained directly (upon payment) through a MyDiplome account.
If you are admitted to a degree programme, you will have to submit original and legalised copies of your previous qualifications. No legalised documents need to be submitted at the application stage, but an English or Italian translation of your entry qualification (i.e. transcript of records and upper secondary school certificate) has to be provided.
No Italian language certificate is required when applying for an English-taught degree programme.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorder (SLD) can contact the University's Student Services Office - Inclusion to report any specific needs and to obtain information on support services available for course attendance and financial benefits.

No Italian language certificate is required, when applying for an English-taught degree programme
The Single-cycle degree programme in Medicine and Surgery admits a limited number of students, selected at national level by Ministerial Decree. The number of places available, the date of the admission test, the content and the procedures for selection are set forth annually by Ministerial Decree and mentioned included in the call for admission.
To apply for the Medicine and Surgery degree programme, registration on Universitaly is required. Candidates must pass an admission test in English (IMAT) and can proceed with registration based on places available, their ranking and on whether they achieved the minimum score set by the admission test. Please check how to enrol section for further information.
If you are a non-EU citizen residing outside of Italy, please note that you must also pre-enrol at the Italian Embassy/Consulate in your country of residence through the Universitaly portal.

The form to fill out, available both in Italian and in English, is composed of three sections (personal information, Embassy and degree programme, qualification). We kindly remind you to select ‘Università degli Studi di Padova’ and the degree programme in "Medicine and Surgery".

Candidates must register for the IMAT on the Universitaly portal, around June/July; the procedure to follow is available on the portal.
Information concerning application dates, application procedure and test dates will be available in the Call for admission, which is published each year around June/July.
No documents will need to be uploaded on Universitaly during the registration phase.
In case of admission and for enrolment purposes, the procedures and deadlines by which coloured scanned copies (PDF format) of the following original documents are going to be requested, will be communicated via email by the Global Engagement Office - Admissions and Welcome Unit to successful candidates ONLY:
- Transcript of records;
- Upper secondary school certificate obtained after at least 12 years of school attendance;
- Certificate proving the completion of 1 or 2 years of academic studies, OR a post-secondary qualification, OR a foundation course qualification (only if you apply for a Bachelor's degree programme and you do not have a minimum 12-year school record);
- Certificate of entrance examination to access university, if required by law in the country where you have been awarded your upper secondary school certificate (e.g. Selectividad in Spain, Prova de Aferiçao or Prova Geral de Acesso ao Ensino Superior in Portugal, Vestibular or Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio in Brazil, Gao Kao in China);

- citizens of any European Union Member States
- citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, San Marino
- citizens with a dual nationality, one of which is Italian or of any European Union Member States. In case of dual nationality and one is Italian, you must apply as Italian; in case of dual nationality and one is of any European Union Member States, you must apply as a European Union Member citizen (Article 19, paragraph 2 of the 218/1995 Law).
citizens of a country outside the European Union residing in Italy and holding a valid Italian residence permit - Permesso di soggiorno which allows enrolment at university (in accordance with Article 39, paragraph 5, of the Italian Consolidated Immigration Act - Testo Unico sull'Immigrazione). In case the Italian residence permit - Permesso di soggiorno held is for for study purposes (either valid or currently being renewed), eligibility for enrolment is subject to verification and ONE of the following conditions must also be met:
1) You MUST NOT have formally withdrawn from a degree programme (as provided for by the Ministerial Circular governing the procedures for the entry, stay and enrolment of international students). Therefore, you must be enrolled at another Italian university and intend to either transfer to the University of Padua or enrol simultaneously in more than one degree programme;
2) You have successfully completed at least one single course unit in the academic year immediately preceding enrolment at the University and intend to continue your studies by enrolling in a degree programme that is consistent with your previous academic pathway (in accordance with Article 39, paragraph 3, letter b of the Italian Consolidated Immigration Act - Testo Unico sull'Immigrazione);
3) You are about to succesfully complete or have recently succesfully completed a Foundation Programme at another Italian university in the academic year immediately preceding enrolment at the University of Padua.
- citizens of a country outside the European Union residing in another European Union country and holding an EU long-term (in accordance with Article 9-bis of the Italian Consolidated Immigration Act - Testo Unico sull'Immigrazione). In this regard, if admitted, we always recommend to acquire information in advance about the procedures required for staying in Italy by contacting the relevant Immigration Office (Ufficio Stranieri), the competent Italian diplomatic or consular authorities, or by consulting the relevant institutional websites.
Citizens of any country outside the European Union, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland or San Marino AND who do not have a double nationality, including Italian or any European nationality, AND who cannot be considered as non-EU citizens residing in Italy (see above).
