In this section, intended for new freshmen, you will find useful information and links on the initiatives that the University of Padova dedicates to aspiring students. These include the "Welcome Day" in the presence of the Rector and the "Meetings with freshmen".
Universities open doors
On this occasion, presidents of the degree courses or their delegates, accompanied by tutors, welcome freshers; A moment to introduce those who have enrolled in the first year to the new cycle of university studies, to introduce them to the organization of teaching, services and various opportunities.

A meeting
Traditionally, every year, after the deadline for registration and before the start of classes, the University organizes a welcome day for new freshers.
In recent years, the event, which has taken the title of "Unmeeting", has turned into a real talk-show during which those who do research, those who have obtained a degree, but also experts, discuss with students about life and the prospects offered by the university and the world of work. This is followed by an evening event that generally welcomes a leading figure from the world of art or entertainment. In recent years, the University has hosted names such as Sergio Cammariere, Natalino Balasso, Gene Gnocchi, Marco Baliani, Laura Curino, Giovanni Vernia, David Riondino and Paolo Cevoli.

The institutional Welcome meeting (Unincontro followed by The Academy Night party ) is generally scheduled for October (in 2025 it is October 3rd), and is held in dual mode (in-person and online). The rector welcomes international students enrolled in the first year of one of the courses of study activated by the University of Padova.
Welcome Meetings: in September and October, meetings are scheduled for international students enrolled in English-taught degree programmes, during which information is provided on dedicated services and teaching.
Universities Open Doors. The presidents of the degree courses or their delegates, accompanied by tutors, welcome the freshmen every year: an opportunity to introduce all students enrolled in the first year to the new cycle of university studies, to present them with the organization of teaching, services and opportunities
Residence permit
The Immigration Support Service desk (SAOS) organizes a series of weekly online meetings to explain how to complete the residence permit application, every Thursday at 12 noon from 11 September to 9 October 2025
UniverCity Tours: in September and October, international students enrolled in the first year have the opportunity to explore and get to know the university facilities, canteens, study rooms and libraries accompanied by university students. The tours available follow two alternative routes: one located in the center of Padova and one in the Piovego / hospitals area.
Global Citizenship Programme: a 10-hour course designed for first-year international students, with the aim of helping them develop intercultural competences and apply them concretely in everyday life, also addressing global challenges, such as the protection of human rights, global health, gender equality and environmental protection. At the end of the course, students receive an open badge.
