The rector Daniela Mapelli welcomes students who, after graduation, have chosen the University of Padova for their university studies.

The event, opened by the greetings of the rector and the mayor Sergio Giordani, sees the participation of the Delegate for communication and scientific dissemination Telmo Pievani and tells the experiences of study, research and life of three protagonists of our territory whose commitment has given fame and authority in their sector.

Francesco Bettella
An award-winning swimmer known internationally, he prefers freestyle and backstroke. The first Paralympics he participated in were in London in 2012. In 2017 at the World Championships in Mexico City he won two gold medals and silver in two other competitions of the following Paralympics in Rio. Since Tokyo 2020 he has taken home two bronze medals in the men's backstroke.

He was awarded the prestigious recognition of the golden collar for sporting merit.
Not only an athlete, but also a scholar, he graduated in engineering at the University of Padova where he currently carries out industrial engineering research for the improvement of aids for people with disabilities.

Stefania Gobbi
Born in Padua, she has always loved sports, and at the age of 13 she fell in love with rowing, following the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the successes of her compatriot Rossano Galtarossa.

In August 2013 she won the first world gold medal in the women's coxed four of Italian rowing. He trained at Canottieri Padova and then joined the Carabinieri Sports Group. In 2017 and 2019 he won the bronze medal in canoeing in pairs.
At the Tokyo Olympics in the canoe specialty for 4 he brings Italy to fourth place. The last success of the Italian athlete is very close, who in 2021 won gold at the Coastal Rowing World Championships in Portugal. 

Gaya Spolverato
Graduated in Padova in 2010, she obtained her specialization in General Surgery in 2017 in Verona. He has many years of experience in the United States of America, between Baltimore and New York. She has participated in numerous scientific projects and founded Women in Surgery Italia, the association of Italian surgeons of which she is president. She is delegate for equal opportunities of the University of Padova.

A lover of athletics and running, from a very young age he thought that his future would be in sport; Then fate chose another path for her.

The afternoon ends with Damien McFly, an eclectic singer-songwriter from Padua, who brings his greetings in music to all the new Unipd freshmen.
His style combines a raw and scratchy voice with the deep melodies of folk, while also being influenced by other sounds such as pop, rock and electronica. Since 2015, the year of the release of his debut album Parallel Mirrors, his music has literally toured all over the world, leading him to perform more than 500 concerts in 15 countries, between Europe and North America. In 2018 in New York he won the prize of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Folk category and an honorable mention at the Unsigned Only Music Competition in Nashville. No Connection is the latest single that anticipates the release of his next album.
