Scholarships for students at risk - A.Y. 2026/27

The University offers a maximum of thirteen scholarships to international students who are refugees or who are in a situation of danger and who wish to attend a course of study at the University.

Amount of the scholarship: € 12,000 per year (gross recipient) + exemption from university fees.

Additional benefits:

• coverage of the trip to Italy;
• assignment of accommodation in suitable facilities, in agreement with the International Relations Area (the fee will be paid directly by the beneficiary);
• dedicated buddy;
• psychological support;
• Italian language courses at the University Language Centre;
• Advice, accompaniment and support through dedicated staff throughout the course of study.

Duration: three years for students enrolled in degree courses; two years for students enrolled in master's degree courses; five years for students enrolled in single-cycle master's degree programmes.

Admission requirements: candidates must:

• be holders of a residence permit for political asylum , asylum request or similar, in Italy or abroad , or
• be beneficiaries of temporary protection as defined by EC Decision 2022/382 or
• declare themselves in a situation of risk;

In addition, they must:

• be in possession of a secondary school diploma (for those who intend to enrol in a Bachelor's Degree Programme or a single-cycle master's degree) or a degree (for those who intend to enrol in a Master's Degree Programme) not obtained in Italy and valid for access to the Italian university system;
• apply for one or more courses of study provided by the University of Padua for the A.Y. 2026/27 or
• have already been found suitable in the selections already announced for the A.Y.. 2026/27. 

How to apply: Interested students must apply through this online form starting from March 23, 2026.

Award criteria: scholarships are awarded on the basis of criteria of academic merit, language competence, motivation and proven risk situation. In the event of a tie, preference will be given to female candidates and younger candidates.

Award Results: The results of the selection and award of scholarships are published on this page starting June 8, 2026.
