Recognition of previous studies

Related study experience can be recognised and credited to your degree as a form of recognition of prior learning. Examinations or educational activities (already passed or to be passed shortly, before the deadlines for enrolment) can be validated in the following cases:
- request for change of programme
- request for a transfer FROM another Italian University TO the University of Padova
- request for validation of other examinations or extra-University educational activities
- when an applicant has interrupted their university career, or has passed some examinations abroad and now wishes to enrol at the University of Padova.
How to apply for the recognition of previous studies or education activities
Bachelor's and single-cycle degrees
The online procedureis available from June 19, 5 p.m. to July 18, 4 p.m., 2024
In order to access the procedure, you need first register on the Uniweb portal.
If you applied to a degree programme with an unlimited number of places, you can also submit your online request from October 15, 4 p.m to November 15, 2 p.m, 2024 after the enrolment has been finalised.
A non-refundable €40 fee is due for every request.
During the procedure, you will be asked to upload the following documents:
- Passport or ID card
- Italian Residence permit (for non-EU applicants residing in Italy)
- Secondary school diploma;
- Certificate issued by relevant academic authorities attesting the examinations passed
- Syllabus of the examinations passed for which recognition is applied for
- (if already obtained) Bachelor’s degree
These documents are accepted in English or in Italian.
You will then receive an answer from the Academic Committee stating the exams that can be recognised, the year of study to which you are eligible for admission and whether you are required to take the entry test.
For the Italian-taught single-cycle degree programmes in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine, admission to the first year of the programme, even for those applying for credit recognition, is conditional on passing the national test (TOLC-MED TOLC-VET).

Master's degree - students admitted to the a.y. 2024/25
If you have been admitted to a Master’s degree programme and you wish to apply for the recognition of any credits obtained in Italy or abroad, please send an email to the Admissions and Welcome Unit (international.admission@unipd.it) with the subject "Recognition of previous studies A.Y. 2024/25" from June 19 to September 30, 6 p.m., 2024.
You will need to attach the following documents:
- Recognition request form (available below);
- the Transcript of records and/or Diploma supplement;
- Syllabus of the examinations passed for which recognition is applied for;
- (if already obtained) Master’s degree
For limited access Italian-taught Master’s degree programmes of the School of Psychology candidates will be required to upload the above-mentioned documents in the dedicated tasks of their application on apply.unipd.it from July 18 to August 28, 6 p.m., 2024
Please be informed that exams included in the (3 or 4 year) Bachelor’s degree which granted you the admission to the Master’s degree programme at the University of Padua cannot be recognized.

Master’s degree - further requests for enrolled students
If you are enrolled in a Master’s degree programme you can apply for the recognition of any credits obtained in Italy or abroad, via the online procedure available from June 19, 5 p.m. to July 17, 2 p.m., 2024
A non-refundable €40 fee is due for every request.
During the procedure you will be asked to upload the following documents:
- Passport or ID card
- Italian Residence permit (for non-EU applicants residing in Italy)
- the Transcript of records and/or Diploma supplement;
- Syllabus of the examinations passed for which recognition is applied for;
- (if already obtained) Master’s degree;
The documents are accepted in English or in Italian.
You will then receive an answer from the Academic Committee stating the exams that can be recognised.
Please be informed that exams included in the (3 or 4 year) Bachelor’s degree which granted you the admission to the Master’s degree programme at the University of Padua cannot be recognized in your current academic career.
