Visits and tours to Palazzo del Bo and Hall of the Giants
These pages offer useful indications for visiting Palazzo del Bo, the historic heart of the University of Padua, and Palazzo Liviano, a twentieth-century masterpiece of architecture, frescoes, and sculpture that houses the ancient Hall of the Giants (Sala dei Giganti).
Founded in 1222 as the result of the spontaneous transfer of students and professors from the nearby city of Bologna in search of greater autonomy and independence. Today, the University of Padua is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world.
More than eight centuries later, the university continues to adopt the concept of Libertas through the promotion of events and initiatives that embrace freedom.
Please note that on Sunday, 8 March 2026, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, it will be possible to visit Palazzo del Bo with a free admission ticket reserved for women. The guided tour service remains subject to a fee according to the current rates.
On 30 March 2026, Palazzo del Bo will be closed to morning guided tours to allow concurrent institutional events. Ticketing and normal tours will resume from 2 p.m..
