Honorary degrees

An ad honorem is an honorary degree awarded to those who have contributed significantly to research, art, or entrepreneurship. The University of Padua confers that the awarded individual have met the requirements under the academic qualifications meriting such distinction. The degree is usually related to the discipline most relevant to the area in which the person operates.

An honorary degree is granted to those whose scientific, cultural, or social merits are specifically relative to the proposing university department. The proposing department confirms that the candidate is of undoubted importance and recognized in their respective community. In particular, if the contribution concerns a candidate operating in the field of scientific research, the candidate must have achieved results stemming from the relative study or through research activity as well as those whose value is recognized nationally and/or internationally. Candidates in the field of cultural, art, economic-social, or technical-scientific value must of achieved exceptionally high profiles, particularly with regard to innovation, the candidate must have achieved results stemming from the relative study or body of work.
