  Official Register (“Albo di Ateneo”)

It is the repository of all rulings and official decrees issued by the University of Padua and it serves as a legally binding form of public notice, in accordance with the Italian Law. It lists several vacancies and selection announcements for the awarding of research grants (e.g. “Bando di selezione per il conferimento di assegni per lo svolgimento di attività di ricerca”) and academic positions that are available here.

  STARS@UNIPD Funding Programme

The STARS funding programme is launched every 2 years (new edition is expected in 2021). It is addressed to young pioneers of frontier research, offering support to ground-breaking ideas with definite potential to turn into competitive proposals for the prestigious ERC grants. STARS grants are open to all scientific areas and will support two-year research projects to be developed in one of the 32 Departments of the University of Padua.

  MSCA ITN – Innovative Training Networks, ESR/PhD Positions

  • Within the framework of the EU Marie Curie innovative training network: xCTing, Unipd is hiring two Early Stage Researchers for the following topics:
    - Enabling Industry 4.0 by fast and accurate CT metrology. 
    - CT-based adaptive advanced manufacturing and assembly chains.
  • One PhD vacancy is availabl for highly motivated ESR positions (full-time 36 months) as part of the new H2020, EU-funded, MSC ITN “AppQInfo” (Applications and Hardware for Photonic Quantum Information Processing) is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN).
    The aim of AppQInfo is to provide a world class training in photonic Quantum Information Processing (pQIP), and prepare an excellent cohort of Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) to become the future R&D staff of Europe’s emerging markets in this area.
    One PhD vacancy is available for highly motivated ESR position (full-time 36 months) as part of the new H2020, EU-funded, MSC ITN “AppQInfo”. EURAXESS Job Offer id: 676245.
    The research topics of the position are the following:
    -ESR4: Exploitation of entanglement in quantum networks
    Objectives: Experimental exploitation of entanglement in quantum networks (protocol beyond QKD, quantum computation, fundamental test of physics).
    Expected Results: Advancing the capabilities of entangled-based quantum communication.
    ERS will be primarily hosted by the University of Padova-Department of Information Engineering (Italy) with stays in other partner institutions (secondments).

  MSCA IF - Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (IF) are one of the actions through which the European Commission financially supports international mobility of experienced researchers within European Countries or between a European country and a country outside Europe. MSC fellows carry out their own research project in collaboration with a host institution, which is indicated at the time of their application. Researchers of all ages, nationalities and scientific disciplines can apply.

  Arqus R.I. - Selection announcement for the awarding of one research grant 2021 - Deadline: October 29, 2021

Within the framework of the ARQUS R.I. project, Unipd awards a research grant as part of the project Work Package "Alternative Assessment Approaches".
The researcher will be involved in identifying and defining new, alternative and innovative standards for the assessment of research and researchers, contributing to the identification of new quantitative and qualitative non-bibliometric assessment criteria.
The deadline for application is October 29, 2021.


  Lombroso Postdoctoral Fellowships

Lombroso Fellowships are awarded to qualified candidates from Italy, wishing to pursue cancer research as Postdoctoral Fellows at the Weizmann Institute, Israel. Other opportunities are also made available for Phd students.

  Giovanni Armenise Harvard Foundation - Career Development Award

The Career Development Award Program is designed to foster the development of outstanding, early-career scientists currently working abroad so that they may make significant contributions to their field of research in Italy. The Award provides $200,000 per year, for 3-5 years, to young scientists to establish their own lab at a host institute in which they can conduct independent research in the biological sciences.

  2021 BBRF Young Investigator Grant

The Foundation's BBRF Young Investigator Grant program offers up to $35,000 a year for up to two years to enable promising investigators to either extend their research fellowship training or to begin careers as independent research faculty (topic: psychiatric disorders).

  Ring14 International -Call for Research Grant 2021

Ring14 International has launched an international Call to solicit research projects on the Ring14 syndrome or Chromosome-14 related syndromes. The call aims to support the fellowship of ONE talented scientist wishing to open a path towards new ways of research. The fellow will be awarded for 1 year salary (renewable for an additional one) with a total budget allocation of 50,000 Euro/year.

  National Italian American Foundation - Fauci Fellowships

The Foundation is offering two $50,000 postdoctoral research grants that will be awarded to an Italian researcher working in Italy and an Italian American researcher working in the United States to support research in infectious diseases and help establish both recipients' independent careers.

  EMBO Young Investigators Programme

EMBO identifies and supports some of the best young researchers in the life sciences. EMBO Young Investigators are group leaders in the early stages of setting up an independent laboratory in EMBC Member or Associate Member States. They receive financial and practical support for a period of four years to help them develop skills and connections.

Application deadline: 1 April 2021 (pre-Application); if selected, 20 July 2021 (full Application).

  EMBO New Venture Fellowship

The goal of the EMBO New Venture Fellowship, supporting visits of up to 3 months, is to support early career scientists, in any field of life science research, who would use this opportunity to enter a new field or bring a new direction to their research efforts

  EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Fellowships are awarded for a period of up to two years and support excellent postdoctoral researchers in laboratories throughout Europe and the world. International exchange is a key requirement. Now awarding grants for employment contracts in EMBC countries, EMBO Fellowships also support the career development of the fellows through leadership courses and networking opportunities.

Application deadline: There are no application deadlines but there are two annual evaluation deadlines for EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships: Second Friday of February (Spring Selection Round) and Second Friday of August (Autumn Selection Round)

  EMBO Short-Term Fellowships

Short-Term Fellowships fund research exchanges of up to three months between laboratories in eligible countries. Short-Term Fellowships are not awarded for exchanges between two laboratories within the same country.

Application deadline: There is no deadline for applications, however it is recommended to apply three months before the proposed starting date.

  Gerda Henkel Foundation Scholarships

The Foundation awards research scholarships to postdocs. The following fields of scholarship are eligible for support: Archaeology, History of Art, Historical Islamic Studies, History, History of Science, History of Law, Prehistory and Early History. It is possible to choose a host institution from anywhere in the world, including the University of Padua.

  Dr. Eduard Gübelin research scholarship

The Scholarship is an annual grant allocated to an innovative research project in the field of gemmology and intended to provide funding and support to post-doctoral researchers in the fields of earth sciences, crystallography, chemistry, physics, material sciences, archaeology, biology, and related fields.

  EMBO Gold Medal

The EMBO Gold Medal is awarded annually to young scientists for outstanding contributions to the life sciences in Europe. The winner of the EMBO Gold Medal receives a hand-crafted medal and a bursary of 10,000 euros.

  Science & PINS Prize for Neuromodulation

The Science & PINS Prize is awarded for innovative research that modulates neural activity through physical (electrical, magnetic, optical) stimulation of targeted sites in the nervous system with implications for translational medicine.

  Prince Mahidol 2021 Award (Two categories: medicine and public health)

The award (including USD 100,000) is conferred by Mahidol Royal Family to individual (s) or institution(s) for their outstanding performance and/or research that contributes directly to the betterment of society.

  FEBS/EMBO Women in Science Award

Each year the exceptional achievements of one woman working in the life sciences in Europe will be rewarded. The winner will receive 10,000 euro, a bronze statue and the opportunity to give a plenary lecture at the FEBS Congress.
