Entry test - Bachelor's and Single-cycle Master's degree programmes
Academic year 2025-2026
To access bachelor's or single-cycle master's degree programs, students must always take an admission test. This test is used to draw up the admission rankings (possibly in combination with other criteria) for limited-access degree programmes, or to determine eligibility for enrollment in unlimited-access degree programmes.
Minimum score thresholds may apply to the tests, or to specific sections of each test. Those who achieve a score below these thresholds are assigned an Additional Learning Obligation (OFA), an additional exam to verify that they have acquired the knowledge required for the program.
Detailed information on the admission tests, how the selection process works, any rankings, and the assignment of OFAs are published in the Call for Admissions.
Below is information on the admission tests and links to the Call for Admissions for the programs that use them.
Please note that students applying with an entry title obtained abroad need to refer to procedures and deadlines listed here: https://www.unipd.it/en/how-apply
TOLC
TOLC – General information
The TOLC is the test used to access most of the University's degree programs; it is an individual computer-based test administered by the CISIA consortium.
TOLCs are administered in "TOLC@HOME" (online) or "TOLC@UNI" (in a physical classroom at the University). Both methods are considered valid for admission to the degree programs offered by the University of Padua. You can take the test at any member university listed on the CISIA list and use it to access the University of Padua's courses.
Please note: simply taking the TOLC is not sufficient for admission to the degree programmes. You must carefully read the Call for admission for the degree programme you are interested in to understand the type of TOLC required, the procedures, and the deadlines for all mandatory procedures. For those applying using an entry title obtained abroad, information on procedures and deadlines is available at https://www.unipd.it/en/how-apply
Registering for the TOLC and Acquisition of TOLC results
Registering for the TOLC
The calendar containing the dates and locations available for the "TOLC@UNI" and "TOLC@HOME" tests can be found on the dedicated page of the CISIA portal.
TOLC tests are considered valid for admission to courses at the University of Padua, even if taken at other CISIA member universities, whether in the "TOLC@HOME" (online) mode or the "TOLC@UNI" (in a physical classroom at the University).
TOLC registration is completed on the CISIA website and requires the payment of a €35.00 fee.
The test must be booked, subject to availability, at least 7-10 days in advance of the test date. It is therefore recommended to book well in advance to meet the deadlines set out in the relevant Call for admissions, or, for those applying with a foreign qualification, at https://www.unipd.it/en/how-apply
More information is available on the CISIA FAQ page: https://www.cisiaonline.it/faq-cisia-archivio-tolc/
For assistance booking the TOLC, please contact CISIA at https://helpdesk.cisiaonline.it/.
Acquiring the TOLC result
The TOLC result is acquired by the University via your Italian tax code (codice fiscale), which must be entered during registration on the CISIA portal (the portal from which you take the TOLC) and on the Uniweb portal (the portal from which you complete the enrollment procedures for the University of Padua).
Acquisition requires a minimum of 3 working days from the date of taking the TOLC and the date of pre-enrollment in the desired course.
The TOLC cannot be acquired without first completing the pre-enrollment process.
Any reports of failure to acquire the TOLC should be sent to immatricolazioni.studenti@unipd.it.
Please note: for those applying with an entry title obtained abroad, different methods for acquiring the TOLC may apply. The necessary information is available at https://www.unipd.it/en/how-apply.
