The Scuola Galileiana di Studi Superiori (Galilean School of Higher Education) is the University of Padua’s school of excellence. It combines traditional university education with a series of special in-house courses comprising seminars and lectures by renowned international visiting professors. Up to four highly talented international students are selected each year.

Scholarships awarded by other national or international organisations

  Scholarships awarded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation MAECI

Every year, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation awards scholarships for studying in Italy to both international students and Italian students who are permanent residents in countries other than Italy (IRE).   

The aim of these scholarships is to foster international cultural cooperation, spread the knowledge of the Italian language, culture and science, as well as promote the Italian economic and technological system throughout the world. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes, both public and legally recognised.

Who can apply: International students and Italian students who are permanent residents in countries other than Italy.

Eligible courses: scholarship applications are open to students wishing to apply to one of the following type of courses offered by the University of Padova:

  1. Master's degree programmes  (Laurea magistrale)
  2. PhD courses
  3. Research under academic supervision (Progetti in co-tutela)

Age requirements:

  1. Master's degree programmes: not over 28 years;
  2. PhD Programmes: not over 30 years;
  3. Research Projects under academic supervision: not over 40 years.

Language requirements:

  • Italian-taught coursesB2 level (CEFR);
  • English-taught courses: no Italian-language requirement; English-language: B2 level  (CEFR).

When to apply: by 9 June 2023 at 2.00 p.m CET (Italian time).

Amount and duration of scholarship: monthly allowance of 900 euros (net). The duration can vary from 6 to 9 months.

Payment arrangements and maintenance requirements: the scholarship will be paid each three months. The merit conditions required to maintain the scholarship also in the following academic years are detailed in the Call for applications.

  Invest Your Talent - a.y. 2023/24

Invest Your Talent in Italy supports talented international students wishing to enrol in English-taught Master's degree programmes in the fields of Engineering and Information Technologies, Management and Economics at top-ranked Italian universities, including the University of Padua. The programme offers full scholarship packages including subsistence allowance, fee-waiver and dedicated student support services. A short internship at leading Italian companies is also foreseen as part of the programme. It is supported by the Italian Government and the Italian Trade Agency.

In addition to the scholarships provided by the IYT project, the University of Padua will award 2 additional scholarships to students selected by the Invest Your Talent Technical Committee who have chosen the University of Padua as their destination.

Who can apply: the programme is open to talented students who completed at least a Bachelor's degree and come from one of the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Popular Republic of China, South Corea, Turkey, Tunisia and Vietnam.

Available degree courses: student applying for “Invest your Talent in Italy” can choose among the following Master's degree programmes completely taught in English offered by the University of Padua:

Economics and Management

Amount and duration of scholarship: The scholarship consists of a monthly amount of 900 euros (net) for the duration of 9 months and it could be renewed for the second year of the Master's Degree, upon the achievement of at least 30 ECTS credits. To be granted the scholarship, students are also required to complete a 3-months compulsory internship in an Italian enterprise.

  Arqus Talent Scholarship Fund - deadline: 3 July 2023

The Arqus European University Alliance is pleased to offer one scholarship through its Arqus Talent Scholarship Fund, designed to attract and retain talent at the postgraduate level from around the world.

This scholarship opportunity is reserved to postgraduate students who want to pursue a Master’s Degree Programme at one of the Arqus partner universities (Granada, Graz, Leipzig, Lyon 1, Maynooth, Minho, Padua, Vilnius and Wroclaw) including a compulsory mobility at a second Arqus partner university.

Priority will be given to students with fewer opportunities, refugees/asylum seekers and applicants with a Bachelor’s degree not obtained at the Arqus university where they will undertake the master’s degree or where they are currently enrolled.

  Unipd 4 Myanmar: scholarships to support Burmese students A.Y.2023/24

The University of Padua offers 2 scholarships to support Burmese students finding themselves in a difficult situation following the worsening of the situation in Myanmar.

Amount of scholarship: fee-waiver + € 8,000 scholarship (gross amount). The only amount to be paid by beneficiary students for a.y. 2023/24 consists of an admission fee, corresponding to the regional tax and marca da bollo.

Duration: The Scholarship is granted for one (1) academic year.

Who can apply: you can be considered for the selection procedure, under penalty of exclusion, if you meet the requirements below:

  1. possess a Burmese citizenship;
  2. do not reside in Italy;
  3. hold a non-Italian foreign secondary school diploma (for Bachelor's or Single-cycle degrees applicants) or a non-Italian Bachelor's degree (for Master's degrees applicants) allowing admission to the Italian University system;
  4. apply to one or more degree programmes completely taught in English at the University of Padua. Please remember that you can apply up to 3 degree programmes.

How to apply: All the students fulfilling the above-mentioned requirements applying for A.Y. 2023/24 are automatically considered for the selection procedure.

Selection criteria: Scholarships will be awarded to the most deserving candidates, on the basis of the quality and results of their previous academic career, their linguistic competence, and motivation.

Selection results: Scholarships will be mainly reserved for candidates applying for the first application period; on an exceptional basis, they might be awarded to eligible candidates of the second application period. 

Scholarships selection results will be published at  according to the timeline indicated in the Call for applications.

In the case of unlimited access degree programmes, scholarship results will be published from 11 March 2023.

Acceptance: selected candidates will receive a specific communication from the Admissions and Welcome Unit of the Global Engagement Office indicating the methods and timing for accepting the financial benefit.

The Italian Ministry of Interior, together with the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI) and ANDISU (Italian Association of Right to Education Organizations), offers 100 scholarships for the A.Y. 2023/24 to refugee students or with international protection obtained by August 26, 2023 in Italy. The deadline to submit the application is September 4, 2023.

A.Y.2022/23 - expired programme

For the academic year 2022/23, the University of Padua offered 50 scholarships to support Afghan students finding themselves in a dangerous situation following the worsening of the political situation in Afghanistan.
