To take advantage of the various financial benefits, such as reduced tuition fees, regional scholarships, student collaborations, exemptions and various incentives, students must follow these steps:

Isee is the indicator that summarises the economic and asset situation, taking into account income, assets and the size of one’s household. The Isee certificate may be requested online directly from INPS or from a Centro di Assistenza Fiscale (CAF) or other competent bodies, specifying that the Isee for benefits for the right to university education is required.

The household of the person applying for the benefits is integrated with that of their parents unless both of the following conditions are met:
- residence outside the family home for at least two years from the date of submission of the single substitute declaration (Dsu), in accommodation not owned by a member of the household;
- income from employment or equivalent income declared for tax purposes, for at least two years, of no less than 9,000 euros.

The Isee certificate is not considered:
- if it reports omissions/discrepancies flagged by INPS that have not been rectified;
- if it is not requested for benefits relating to the right to university education.

International students must apply for the equivalent ISEE, if they:

  • are resident abroad (whether registered with Aire or not);
  • are resident in Italy, with an annual employment income of less than 9,000 euros and with a household resident abroad

The equivalent ISEE is an official certificate indicating the economic situation in a given year on the basis of the family status certificate, income and assets. It is advisable to start the procedure as early as possible, because several months may be needed to gather the information and documents relating to personal and family income and assets, and then have them translated and legalised.

The calculation of the equivalent ISEE is free of charge and must be requested exclusively from the CAF affiliated with the University and ESU:
