The Future of Text

The Summer School in "THE FUTURE OF TEXT" is held in collaboration with Tokyo College, University of Tokyo. Students will embark on a journey exploring printed texts from their origins to the present day, with a specific focus on the impact of recent technologies on the future of text. Offering a comprehensive overview of the historical evolution of textual practices and technologies, from the invention of printing to generative artificial intelligence, the activities will allow students to develop a critical awareness of the challenges and opportunities of digitizing texts. Students will have the opportunity to visit key institutions during their stay in Italy, including the Correr Foundation and the State Archives in Venice. In addition, practical workshops will allow students to work with specialized software for text manipulation and analysis.
