The inauguration of the academic year
The inauguration ceremony of the academic year represents a solemn moment for the University, during which the various components of the academic community come together in a unified sense of belonging, each bringing their own voice. This ceremony, held in the Aula Magna of Palazzo del Bo in Padua, symbolically marks the official opening of our University's activities.
The ceremony is attended by Italian and foreign rectors, the academic community, authorities, and representatives of institutions, following the centuries-old tradition of Unipd.
The inauguration of the 2024/2025 academic year, marking 803 years since the founding of the University of Padua
The official opening of the 803rd academic year of the University of Padua - a.y. 2024/25 - will be proclaimed on February 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM by Rector Daniela Mapelli in the Aula Magna of Palazzo del Bo, with the participation of Professor Elena Cattaneo, scientist and senator for life.
The event will begin with a speech by the Rector, followed by addresses from the General Director of the University of Padua, Alberto Scuttari, the representative of the Student Council, Emma Ruzzon, and Senator Cattaneo. The keynote lecture will be delivered by Cesare Dosi, full professor of Public Economics in the Department of Economics and Management "Marco Fanno", who will present on "The Unbearable Lightness of Sustainability."
The program also includes musical moments featuring the Corollario and the Concentus Musicus Patavinus of the University of Padua with the Gaudeamus and Chamber Choirs and the String Quartet.
An Italian Sign Language (LIS) interpretation service will be available during the ceremony.
The ceremony, by invitation only, will also be streamed live on the University of Padua's YouTube channel.
