The Master’s degree course in Cognitive Neuroscience and Clinical Neuropsychology will offer you the latest developments in neuroscientific research, its clinical applications and highly-specialized laboratories where to acquire a good variety of practical skills.

  Course description

The program of the two-year MSc is designed to offer a training in a specialized area of psychology and aims to be recognized as a high-level qualification for academic and professional purposes at international level.

The course units range within psychology, neurology and psychiatry and their clinical applications (in collaboration with the Departments of Neuroscience and Medicine).

The whole degree is strongly focused on laboratories  - equipped with instruments such as TMS, tDCS, GEODESIC software – which allow our students’ theoretical learning to be integrated with the use of this technology to the purpose of enhancing their practical skills too.

Our aim is to offer our students a multilevel approach to their studies within an  international perspective.

  Course structure

Each academic year consists of two semesters.

First semester: classes from October to January - Winter exam session: January to February

Second semester: classes from March to June - Summer exam session: June to July

  Career opportunities

The MSc represents a great starting point to continue with PhD studies, particularly in Cognitive Science and Neuroscience. At the same time, our graduates will also be prepared to pursue a professional training and career in Clinical Neuropsychology or a related discipline. They will have various employment opportunities especially within the emerging fields of psychology. One example? Designing cognitive tests through neuroimaging, electrophysiology and brain stimulation.

  Entry requirements

Admission requirements are:

  • first-cycle degree (BA/BSc) in Psychology in Italy or a BA/BSc degree equal to a  first-cycle degree (BA/BSc) in Psychology in Italy
  • B2 (other certifications can be accepted, provided they correspond to a B2 level. All the information on this issue can be found in the admission notice).

Candidates will be further assessed on their:

  • CV and motivational letter: the Admission Board will assess the curriculum vitae and grades of each candidate. In particular it will evaluate exams in the field of General Psychology (M/PSI-01 area), Psychobiology and Physiological psychology (M/PSI-02 area), Psychometrics (M/PSI-03 area) and Clinical Psychology (M/PSI-08 area). In addition to grades, any educational experiences or studying experiences abroad will also be taken into account. Please note that you are required to upload the CV and cover letter filling out the form attached to the Call for application or you will be excluded from the selection process.
  • Letters of recommendation: up to 2 letters of recommendations will be taken into account. They need to be recent (dated 2017), written in English and signed by professors who had the opportunity to get to know the candidate during their university career.

  Language requirements

Candidates must have at least a B2 level of English as per the Common European Language Framework. Detailed information about  accepted English language certificated can be found in the Call for applications. English mother tongue students, or students who have attended their upper secondary school or a Bachelor's degree course in English, do NOT need to present a language certificate.
