The inauguration of the 2023/2024 academic year, marking 802 years since the founding of the University of Padua
The official inauguration of the 802nd academic year of the University of Padua will be proclaimed on February 9, 2024 at 11 a.m., by Rector Daniela Mapelli in the Aula Magna of Palazzo del Bo in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio.
The ceremony welcomes Italian and international rectors, the academic community, and local authorities as per Unipd’s centuries-old traditions.
The ceremony opens with a speech by the Rector, followed by statements from the Minister of Justice.
Scheduled speeches include those by the Director General of the University of Padua, Alberto Scuttari and the President of the Student Council, Emma Ruzzon. Professor Simone Montangero offers the inaugural address with a lecture on "Einstein, the Mona Lisa and the quantum revolutions".
With a musical performance by the University of Padua’s Concentus Musicus Patavinus.
The ceremony is accessible to the hearing impaired thanks to the addition of an Italian Sign Language interpreter.
