The Unipd Mètis Vela Team spends 12 months preparing the design and construction of new sailboats and improving existing vessels. Testing the fleet takes place in the spring along the Adriatic Sea and the summer along Lago di Garda. An electronics design team investigates the use of innovative nautical detection devices while administrators ensure the efficient use of all available resources. The 1001VelaCup project combines technique, research, and sport to achieve increasingly higher performances at the competition of the same name.
The Mètis Vela team continues to welcome students from various University departments and schools. Interdisciplinary integrity is one of the teams’ greatest strengths and provides students with the opportunity to test into practice what they learn in the classroom. Learn more about projects and activities planned for 2023 as the Unipd Mètis Vela Team holds a series of information sessions from the 10 to 17 October.
The Unipd Mètis Vela Team spends 12 months preparing the design and construction of new sailboats and improving existing vessels. Testing the fleet takes place in the spring along the Adriatic Sea and the summer along Lago di Garda. An electronics design team investigates the use of innovative nautical detection devices while administrators ensure the efficient use of all available resources. The 1001VelaCup project combines technique, research, and sport to achieve increasingly higher performances at the competition of the same name.
The Mètis Vela team continues to welcome students from various University departments and schools. Interdisciplinary integrity is one of the teams’ greatest strengths and provides students with the opportunity to test into practice what they learn in the classroom. If you have a passion for sailing and believe in the true spirit of teamwork, join any of the scheduled events to learn more.
Scheduled events:
- Tuesday 10 October (10:30 am -2:30 pm) ESU Piovego Cantina at via Colombo 1 Padua
- Wednesday 11 October (10:30 am- 3:30 pm) front parking area at DEI via Gradenigo 6
- Thursday 12 October (morning) Open Day at the DIM via Venezia 1
- Friday 13 October (10:00 am -6:00 pm) showcasing new vessels with guests including the UniPd Rector, the Mayor of Padua, and the Sport Councilor of Padua held at Palazzo Bo and Palazzo Moroni
- Tuesday17 October (4:30 pm- 6:30 pm) meeting room on the 3rd floor of the DII: final presentation of projects and activities planned for the new academic year.
