With two classrooms, two study rooms, and a common room for socializing, the new spaces are a welcome addition to the Campagnola Complex, which was previously inaugurated in October 2023. Reaching a total capacity of approximately 850 seats, the building, and its classrooms, fall in line with the University’s broader commitment of sustainable architecture with the omission of fossil fuel use.
The newly opened public pedestrian pathway from via Campagnola to via Canal.
The reclamation of surface land brought to light some of the richest Roman necropolis in the city of Padua (220 tombs), dating back to a period between the Augustan age and the first decades of the second century AD.
The recovery of the complex began in October 2022 as part of a broader University policy aimed at increasing and innovating research spaces that progressively modernize and make available new classrooms. In concert with Palazzo Maldura and the renovated Beato Pellegrino Complex, the Campagnola Complex project demonstrates the growing expanse of this part of Padua as a reference point for the University’s Humanistic Studies.
As the work continues, the Complex will include a student residence in the area adjacent to where teaching activities take place, as well as two other classrooms and vast open space.
