After eight successful editions, the University of Padua is offering a new MSCA MaRaThoN between 22 and 24 May 2024.

MSCA MaRaThoN is a training course targeting top candidates who wish to apply for the upcoming Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA –PF) call indicating the University of Padua as their Host Institution.

The training offers researchers the opportunity to gain more information about the MSCA - Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 call. Participants will meet experts and experienced MSC evaluators providing specific advice and useful tips on how to best draft their project proposals. Furthermore, candidates will have the possibility to meet their potential supervisors at the University of Padua, to get to know our current MSCA fellows and to visit our laboratories and facilities.

  What we look for

We are looking for experienced researchers (the MSCA definition applies: at the date of the call deadline, in possession of a doctoral degree), with an excellent CV and research track record (e.g., one publication without their PhD supervisor, a publication as first author, a monograph). Applicants are expected to be open minded and willing to collaborate with our research groups.

  What we offer

The training course is open to 40 potential MSCA candidates. Selected participants will have their travel and accommodation costs covered by the University of Padua: we will book and pay directly for such expenses, no reimbursements to applicants are foreseen.

  Who can apply

When applying for the course, please check and choose your type of fellowship and make sure you comply with the MSCA Mobility Rule.

You can apply to the MSCA Marathon 2024 if, at the date of the relevant deadline for the submission of PF proposals (11 September 2024):

  • you possess a PhD;
  • you have up to max. 8 years of research experience after PhD (exceptions according to MSCA-PF rules)
  • you comply with the mobility rule of the MSCA;
  • you choose the University of Padua as your Host Institution.

Please note that evaluation of candidates is mainly based on their research profile and completeness of their application. Make sure you contact your supervisor at the University of Padua: you need to have his/her Department letter of acceptance signed by the Head of Department and included in your folder.

  When you are not funded but receive the Seal of Excellence - MSCA

In case you choose the University of Padua as your Host Institution within the MSCA-PF Call and your project is not selected for funding, but you receive the “Seal of Excellence – MSC Actions”, the University offers you the opportunity for an alternative funding under the MSCA Seal of Excellence@University of Padua programme. Once the Seal of Excellence is issued, you may apply for a grant covering an employment contract for the duration of the project, a budget for research, networking and training activities and, under specific conditions, a mobility allowance that is paid as a top up to your salary.
