A research feedback exhibition, an illustration exhibition, and the installation of two public art works in the railway station area: this is how the project WALC (Walking Landscapes of Urban Cultures), funded by Next Generation EU and involving the Universities of Bologna, Padua, and Milano-Bicocca, is presented to the public.

The exhibition WALC! – Practices and Cultures of Urban Walking can be visited at the Altinate San Gaetano Cultural Centre (Via Altinate 71) from 16 January to 15 February 2026.
The exhibition path unfolds through the transdisciplinary outputs of the three research units, which have interpreted their cities as living laboratories for listening to, narrating, and imagining cultures of urban walking. Through different languages and approaches, each city contributes to unveiling new perspectives for those who walk through the city and observe ever-changing urban landscapes. Free admission.

Two public art installations, created by Caterina Morigi and Daniele Costa as part of MAR – Mobile Art Residency, the section of WALC! that brought geography and contemporary art into dialogue, will be on view from 24 January in the Padua railway station area. They will be officially presented to the public on Saturday, 24 January at 11:30 a.m. at the Peppino Impastato Hall of Banca Etica (Via B. Cairoli 6).
These context-specific installations explore mobility, gestures, trajectories, and the relationships between bodies and materiality within the complexity of the neighbourhood. The works are the result of a long process of exploration, during which the artists articulated urban walking as a practice for interrogating the context and its transformations.

Finally, from 18 January to 15 February, the Museum of Geography of the University of Padua (Via del Santo 26) hosts an exhibition dedicated to the relationship between illustration, the city, and walking, offering insights into drawing and comics as creative tools for urban research. The Padua research unit presents the results of its dialogue with illustrator and urban planner Tânia Alexandra Cardoso, whose work explores the poetics of everyday life, using graphic art to question and co-create the urban environment. Free admission.

Urban Mobility Cultures: creative and narrative approaches to moving in the city is a public scientific event taking place in Padua on 15 and 16 January 2026, hosted by the Museum of Geography and the San Gaetano Cultural Center, marking the conclusion of the WALC project (Walking Landscapes of Urban Cultures), funded by Next Generation EU, which involved the Universities of Bologna, Padua, and Milano-Bicocca.
