Earlier today the University of Padova and Eni signed a cooperation framework agreement for energy transition, digital transformation, and the circular economy, during an online meeting attended by the Rector of the University of Padova, Rosario Rizzuto, the President of Eni, Lucia Calvosa, and Eni CEO, Claudio Descalzi.
The three years long partnership, with a possible extension to five years, strengthens the existing collaboration on key areas such as geology and geophysics, and identifies new strategic lines of research on sustainable development and decarbonisation: new technologies for Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage, for harnessing solar energy, as well as studies on magnetic confinement nuclear fusion.

Earlier today the University of Padova and Eni signed a cooperation framework agreement for energy transition, digital transformation, and the circular economy, during an online meeting attended by the Rector of the University of Padova, Rosario Rizzuto, the President of Eni, Lucia Calvosa, and Eni CEO, Claudio Descalzi.
The three years long partnership, with a possible extension to five years, strengthens the existing collaboration on key areas such as geology and geophysics, and identifies new strategic lines of research on sustainable development and decarbonisation: new technologies for Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage, for harnessing solar energy, as well as studies on magnetic confinement nuclear fusion.
Rector of the University of Padova, Rosario Rizzuto, commented: “The environment is a priceless heritage that we were given, and it is our duty to preserve undamaged for the future generations. This is the philosophy that drives the University of Padova to firmly pursue targets to increase our environmental sustainability. Our multiple actions are paying off: just with the purchasing of energy from renewable sources, for example, we have cut 20% off the University’s emissions and prevented the production of 18k tons of CO2 per year. The agreement signed with Eni goes in the direction, crucial for us, of an even greater protection of the environment in which we live”.
