Each year, the International Politics & Security School (IPSe) proposes seasonal events. Now in its IV edition, the Memory & Oblivion Political Violence and Organised Crime Fall School 2024 event takes place on Tuesday 7 November and Wednesday 8 November.
University of Padua Rector Daniela Mapelli opens the two-day event with institutional greetings on Tuesday 7 November at 11:00 am in the Aula Magna of Palazzo del Bo. Followed with introductions by the Scientific Director of IPSe Prof Valentine Lomellini of Keynote Speaker Pietro Grasso. As the President of the “Scintille di futuro” Foundation, the Former President of the Italian Senate and National Anti-Mafia Prosecutor, Grasso will present his talk entitled La minaccia stragista in Italia tra terrorismo politico e mafioso: elementi comuni e differenze.
The day continues with a round table discussing Threats to the State: Terrorism and Organized Crime. The round table welcomes Pietro Grasso, Antonio Parbonetti (Vice Rector of Organization and Budget and Unipd Staff Delegate), Vittorio Borraccetti (former Public Prosecutor of Venice and Superior Council of the Judiciary member), Prof Valentine Lomellini, and Prof Martha Crenshaw (professor of Political Science at the University of Stanford). A live streaming of events will be available on the IPSe - University of Padua YouTube channel.
Evening events continue at 9 pm in the Sala Donatello of the MPX Multiplex (via Bonporti 22) with a screening of the documentary ‘Ottobre 1982 - Attack on the synagogue’ directed by Paolo Borraccetti and written by Paolo Borraccetti and Giancarlo De Cataldo. Followed by a discussion between Borraccetti and Prof Lomellini. Space is limited but registration is open for the MPX Multiplex film screening.

The talk welcome Pietro De Perini (University of Padua), Luis Fernando Beneduzi (Ca' Foscari University of Venice), Mauro Conti (University of Padua), Giuseppe De Magistris (Director of Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units), Octavia Moise (National School of Political and Administrative Studies of Bucharest and University of Padua), and Frédéric Dessberg (Paris 1 University Panthéon-Sorbonne).
Followed by a Junior Conference, discussing Security: International Politics, Old and New Challenges with Didier Danet (St. Cyr Military Academy) and Bernhard Blumenau (St. Andrews University). A live streaming will be available on the SPIG - University of Padua YouTube channel.

Each year, the International Politics & Security School (IPSe) proposes seasonal events. Now in its IV edition, the Memory & Oblivion Political Violence and Organised Crime Fall School 2024 event takes place on Tuesday 7 November and Wednesday 8 November.
University of Padua Rector Daniela Mapelli opens the two-day event with institutional greetings on Tuesday 7 November at 11:00 am in the Aula Magna of Palazzo del Bo. Followed with introductions by the Scientific Director of IPSe Prof Valentine Lomellini of Keynote Speaker Pietro Grasso. As the President of the “Scintille di futuro” Foundation, the Former President of the Italian Senate and National Anti-Mafia Prosecutor, Grasso will present his talk entitled La minaccia stragista in Italia tra terrorismo politico e mafioso: elementi comuni e differenze.
The day continues with a round table discussing Threats to the State: Terrorism and Organized Crime. The round table welcomes Pietro Grasso, Antonio Parbonetti (Vice Rector of Organization and Budget and Unipd Staff Delegate), Vittorio Borraccetti (former Public Prosecutor of Venice and Superior Council of the Judiciary member), Prof Valentine Lomellini, and Prof Martha Crenshaw (professor of Political Science at the University of Stanford). A live streaming of events will be available on the IPSe - University of Padua YouTube channel.
Evening events continue at 9 pm in the Sala Donatello of the MPX Multiplex (via Bonporti 22) with a screening of the documentary ‘Ottobre 1982 - Attack on the synagogue’ directed by Paolo Borraccetti and written by Paolo Borraccetti and Giancarlo De Cataldo. Followed by a discussion between Borraccetti and Prof Lomellini. Space is limited but registration is open for the MPX Multiplex film screening.
The second day of events begins at 9:30 am on Wednesday 8 November in the Aula Nievo of Palazzo Bo with talks Security: New Challenges in the XXI Century. The talk welcome Pietro De Perini (University of Padua), Luis Fernando Beneduzi (Ca' Foscari University of Venice), Mauro Conti (University of Padua), Giuseppe De Magistris (Director of Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units), Octavia Moise (National School of Political and Administrative Studies of Bucharest and University of Padua), and Frédéric Dessberg (Paris 1 University Panthéon-Sorbonne).
Followed by a Junior Conference, discussing Security: International Politics, Old and New Challenges with Didier Danet (St. Cyr Military Academy) and Bernhard Blumenau (St. Andrews University). A live streaming will be available on the SPIG - University of Padua YouTube channel.
Held in English and Italian with translation services provided for the first day of the event. Registration for the participation is open for the 7 November events and the 8 November events.
