An Anti-Violence Help Desk was inaugurated in Vicenza, the result of a collaboration between the University of Padua and the Municipality of Vicenza. This is a dedicated support space for the entire academic community, offering free assistance in cases of discrimination, harassment, abuse, and violence against women and gender and sexual minority groups. The service is available for incidents occurring within Unipd facilities in the Vicenza area or in the personal lives of those affected.

The help desk was funded by the Veneto Region with the aim of expanding the local network of access points for women and raising awareness of ways to act in order to prevent and combat such phenomena. It will be operated by the association Donna chiama Donna and will be open on Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The desk is located at the University’s Vicenza branch, in the Ex Gil building (Contrà della Piarda, 9 – Vicenza), currently home to the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management.

Instead, it provides an immediate response to the needs of young people, who are increasingly at the center of news reports involving violence. The help desk is also connected to our university’s psychological support service, because filing a report is not enough—psychological assistance is also needed. The help desk aims to raise awareness: even in cases of discomfort or verbal harassment, it is important to talk about it.
