One of the most recognizable voices in Italy in the field of science communication and public engagement, Silvia Bencivelli will be a guest of the Doctoral School in Psychological Sciences for a meeting devoted to research communication. The seminar is open to all interested members of the public.
How can scientific research be communicated clearly, rigorously, and engagingly to diverse audiences? Silvia Bencivelli will discuss this topic with particular attention to the responsibilities and challenges faced by scientists and journalists in today’s media landscape.
A science journalist, writer, author, and radio and television presenter, Silvia Bencivelli collaborates with Rai Radio3 and Rai Cultura, has worked with Rai3, writes for newspapers and magazines (Il Venerdì and D di Repubblica, Le Scienze, National Geographic), and produces podcasts. She teaches and regularly conducts training courses on scientific writing and communication.
Among her most recent books are Eroica, folle e visionaria – Storie di medicina spericolata (Bollati Boringhieri, 2023), winner of the National Prize for Science Communication – Giancarlo Dosi 2024 and finalist for the Galileo and Cosmos Awards 2024; Il mistero del gatto Asclepio (Salani, 2024); and Tre colpi di genio e una pessima idea – Ascesa e caduta di uno scienziato squinternato (Bollati Boringhieri, 2025).
The seminar will take place on Wednesday, February 12 at 1:00 pm in Room T4 of the University Language Centre (via Venezia 16, Padua).
The guest will be introduced by Prof. Ioana Cristea.
