A computer science engineer, Gianmaria Silvello is associate professor at Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padua. His research spans information retrieval evaluation, data models and structures, digital libraries and data publishing and citation.

He has published 160+ scientific papers in national and international venues.

He has been appointed member of the International Advisory Panel (IAP) of the Danish Data Science Academy (February 2022 - September 2024).
He is member of the editorial board of Information Processing & Management.
He is associate editor of IEEE Access.
He is member of the editorial board of Frontiers in Research Metrics and Analytics (Scholarly Communication).
He is member of the editorial advisory board of Digital Library Perspectives.
He is member of the editorial board of the Journal of Universal Computer Science.

In 2016-2017 he was visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Italian National Scientific Qualification for the role of Full Professor in Computer Engineering obtained in July 2018 and in Computer science obtained in July 2020.
