Dr. Pradhan is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA, where he uses machine learning to make future predictions of aquatic flows. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2024 from the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Modeling at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. His doctoral research focused on evaluating satellite-based precipitation datasets, particularly assessing the performance of GPM IMERG products across global terrestrial and oceanic regions.
Before his Ph.D., Rajani began his research career as a Junior Research Fellow at Banaras Hindu University, India, where he worked on downscaling future climate projections to analyze extreme weather events. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from the Central University of Rajasthan, India.
As part of the MSCA project “Extreme Precipitation Response to Temperature Variations: The Role of Storm Types and Global Circulation Patterns” (PTSTORM), dr. Pradhan will investigate the scaling behavior and dynamics of extreme precipitation and temperature. The PTSTORM project introduces a novel approach to understanding how storm types and global circulation patterns influence the scaling of precipitation extremes.
