Nicola Bellomo is a theoretical astrophysicist working at the frontier between Cosmology and Gravitational Physics. He obtained both his Bachelor and Master Degree in Physics at the University of Padova. Later, he completed his PhD studies at the University of Barcelona under the supervision of Licia Verde, focusing his research on different topics in theoretical Cosmology. After a three-year postdoc at the University of Texas in Austin he moved back to the University of Padova to work with Professor Raccanelli.
The purpose of his "GWSKY" MSCA project is to take advantage of gravitational waves as a natural cosmic messenger to investigate the properties of the sources that generated such signals, as well as those of the Universe they travel across to reach us. The overarching goal is to provide an end-to-end formalism that will be applied to the observations that will be conducted by major next-generation gravitational wave detectors, Einstein Telescope and LISA, the European Union is currently developing and constructing.
