Cinzia Scaggion specialized in restoration and conservation of cultural heritage materials, focusing on contemporary art at Brera Academy. After earning her Master’s degree, she contributed to the Anthropology Section of the Museum of Nature and Humankind (MNU) at the University of Padua, conserving ethnographic artifacts for exhibitions. She deepened her knowledge in physical anthropology and palaeopathology through dedicated courses at Padua and Pisa Universities.

As a research fellow, she catalogued, restored, and studied the osteological collection at the MNU, with anthropological and palaeopathological approaches.

In 2022, she earned a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences at Padua University, presenting a thesis on advanced diagnostics for ancient human osteological remains, proposing a pre-screening method for molecular analyses. During her MSCA project, DIAGENESI, under the supervision of Prof. Gilberto Artioli, she will focus on the preservation of pristine molecules in fossil and subfossils bones, and in paleo-soils over time, delving into the mechanisms involved. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, developing a strontium isotope distribution map to study paleomobility in South America. Her versatile expertise spans anthropological investigations, palaeopathological, and the physico-chemical examination of skeletal remains, gained through collaborations with universities, museums, and research institutes in Italy and abroad.
