The UNIPD team is dedicated to understanding the role of interpersonal and mediated communication in intergroup relations and migration-related conflicts using different, yet complementary research perspectives. Specifically, three supervisors with different backgrounds (psychology, political sciences, and sociology) are involved to address the interdisciplinary nature of the project and train the doctoral candidates within their fields of expertise.
Ughetta Moscardino is Associate Professor of Cultural Developmental Psychology at the University of Padova. Using a socioecological approach, her research examines risk and resilience factors for youth social and emotional adjustment in the context of migration. She is part of an international network of scholars (“Global IP”) working on the promotion of adolescents’ cultural identity development in educational settings. The outcomes of her research have been disseminated to the academic community and to the general public.
Claudia Padovani is Associate Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Padova. Her research interests site at the crossroads of global communication governance and gender issues in media and communication, with a focus on communication rights and social justice. On these issues she has published extensively. She is a founding member of the Digital Constitutionalism Network and co-chair of the UNESCO UniTWIN Network on Gender Media and ICT.
Devi Sacchetto is Full Professor of Sociology of Work at the University of Padova. His research interests concern migration and labour processes. He has directed and participated in national and international research projects concerning migrant workers, the intergenerational transmission of social inequalities, and different forms of social cohesion.
