A.Y. – 2026/27 English Language requirement for admission

Bachelor's, Single cycle and Master's degree programmes

A minimum level of English language proficiency is required for degree programmes taught in English and for some degree programmes taught in Italian. Each Call for admissions specifies:

  • which level is required for admission, B1 or B2 (CEFR);
  • what are the deadlines for meeting the requirement;
  • how the requirement can be met. This page shows the procedures common to all degree programmes; any additional procedures are shown in the relevant Call for admissions.

Verification of the language requirement

  Alternative 1
Language certification

Certifications must be submitted following procedures and deadlines as per the relevant Call for admissions.

The certification document must be attached, front and back, within the procedure. Those who have taken the test and have not yet received the certificate may present the provisional statement of results issued by the certifying body.

The only certifications accepted are those listed below, with reference to the minimum scores that vary for degree programmes and study tracks delivered in Italian or English.

  Alternative 2
Degree programme title delivered entirely in English

Accepted degree titles includes Bachelor's, Single cycle Master's or Master's degree; it is not sufficient to have completed part of the degree programme abroad.
Proof of qualification must be provided by submitting, as per procedures and deadlines specified in the Call for admissions, a self-certification with examinations or the diploma supplement issued by the university where it was obtained.

If the qualification (submitted for the sole purpose of passing the language requirement) was obtained abroad, also the Transcript of Records and the final diploma of achievement are required.

In all cases, the degree programme language must be explicitly stated in the documentation. Otherwise, an official document issued by the university stating the language of the course must be attached.

  Alternative 3
Citizenship - Mother tongue English

Native speakers are considered to be those who hold an identity document indicating one of the following nationalities (dual citizenship is also considered valid in this respect): Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, USA.

In order to prove that you are a native speaker, you must enclose an identity document stating that you possess one of the above mentioned citizenships, following procedures and deadlines as per the relevant Call for admissions.

  Further alternatives

Some degree programmes may provide further alternatives in addition to what is stated on this page to fulfil the language requirement. To find out about them, you should check the relevant Call for admissions.
