OVERVIEW
The Master’s Degree provides the cultural and technical skills needed for planetary geosciences and remote sensing exploration. Through research-oriented teaching, field activities and innovative laboratories, the programme offers advanced education and training on strategic space related topics such as geology of Solar System bodies, management of data sets for space exploration and earth observation, geomaterials including meteorites, planetary analogs; landing sites characterization, in situ resources exploration and exploitation and astrobiology.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
1st year - 1st semester: Earth Surface Processes and Deposits, Earth Interior and Evolution, Planetary Geology and Solar System Exploration, Cosmochemistry, Geological Resources, Computational Mechanics for Multiphase Media in the Solar System.
1st year - 2nd semester: Meteorites and Extraterrestrial Materials, Remote Sensing Exploration, Planetary Mapping and Field Analogues, Mineral Physics of Planetary Interiors, Geotechnics, Planetary Volcanism and Volcano Tectonics, Early Life and Astrobiology.
2nd year: ISRU and Human Settlements, Analysis of Mineral Resources and Industrial Derivatives, Applied Geophysics, Planetary Dynamics and Evolution, Numerical Modelling

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates in planetary geoscience can work in space-oriented companies dealing with remote sensing, GIS and digital geological mapping, analytical labs and space agencies. Careers in the field of popular sciences, such as museums and parks, are also foreseen. The Master’s degree provides a sound basis for accessing PhD courses in high-profile research universities worldwide.
