CHARACTERISTICS AND OBJECTIVES
The osteopath is a health worker in the prevention, promotion and education of health, according to the specific profile identified by Presidential Decree. n. 131 of 07/07/2021.
The osteopath is the healthcare professional, in possession of a qualifying three-year university degree or equivalent qualification, who carries out interventions for the prevention and maintenance of health through the osteopathic treatment of unrelated somatic dysfunctions independently or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
The osteopath does not deal with the functional recovery and rehabilitation of a sick person: his mission is aimed at maintaining the person's state of health as a whole. It also implements its activities in the prevention of musculoskeletal, nervous system, circulatory and visceral system pathologies, encouraging physical activities and postural hygiene, as well as in the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases, as well as in the protection of maternal health, child, family and school.
OCCUPATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
The osteopath can practice his profession, carrying out functions independently, in the structures of the National Health Service, in private companies, institutes and foundations, as an employee or freelancer.
