Meet Teresa

About myself

I consider myself easy-going and feel my best surrounded by good people and nature. During my free time, you can find me hiking, spending time with my friends, exploring a new city, reading or on a video call with my family.
Currently, I live in Portugal working for a Research and Development company doing my research thesis program about enabling circularity in the textile industry for a project supported by the European Commission which I enjoy very much.

What did you like the most about your programme? Why should people expect from it?

What I like about my program is that it is innovative. It was one of the few courses available about Circular Economy. Also, it combines technical with administrative skills, great for both research and industrial aspects.
People should expect a good number of administrative classes and a lot of chemistry classes. They should also expect extra activities like bi-weekly seminars, summer schools, classes with special speakers to add to the class, and trips to recycling facilities.
At the end of the Master’s there is the possibility to do the thesis research project abroad if the students want to take advantage of that possibility.

What did you like most about your time at UNIPD?

The university has a combination of historical and new departments in it, which gives it a unique touch. I really enjoyed the events happening at the university, like concerts in Sala dei Giganti, and expositions and seminars at Palazzo Bo. I also enjoyed the spaces like classrooms, laboratories, aula studios and libraries.
While at UNIPD, my classmates and I created a research and education group supported by the master’s degree that allowed us to conduct seminars and workshops within the university establishments that were very fun to do.

What advice would you give to potential students thinking of studying abroad in Italy?

To enjoy themselves and find a balance Italy has an amazing culture and a lot of wonderful places, you can move around very easily from city to city and experience a lot. Adding to that, the Italian education system is very demanding and to succeed you need to spend a good amount of time studying and doing schoolwork. So, to have the best of both worlds, my recommendation is to find a balance and this is the perfect time to work on time management skills :)

What do you like most about the City of Padua and why? What fun things have you experienced since being here?

Padova is so cute, I really enjoy going to the different cafes, going out for some spritz, bar hopping with my friends, going to Prato della Valle, spending Wednesdays night at Porta Portello with classmates and friends, and strolling the city. Also, spending the day in Verona, Venice, or going to the lakes around the city. I like that the city has a bit of everything, so you can do a lot of things and during the year there are different events, so it’s fun and entertaining all year long.

What is the food like in Padua? What is your favourite Italian dish and why?

My favourite Italian food is the one my Italian friends cook at home, but if I have to choose something that is not homemade, I will choose cicchetti or a pizza. In addition, I think my favourite is just the Italian aperitivo, which is more an experience than a dish. It is the perfect end of the day, a space for a great chat with your friends, the pre-night out drinks, it’s just great.
