Hello, I'm Danesh Habibi, a Bachelor student of Information Engineering at the University of Padua. I've always been drawn to the world of technology. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by how computers work. This curiosity led me to begin my journey into the field of technology at the age of 14, when I started learning about security and programming languages. My goal was not only to bring my ideas to life through real-world applications but also to build a foundational understanding of computer basics that would enable me to develop secure platforms.
However, as I delved deeper into the complexities of real-world applications, I realized that I needed a more profound and comprehensive knowledge of computers and technology. This realization drove me to pursue my education at the University of Padua, well known for its strong academic programmes in Engineering. The University of Padua has truly been instrumental in shaping my journey, helping me to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The decision to study here has proven to be incredibly rewarding, equipping me with the skills to tackle real-life challenges and make informed decisions.

What are the main features of your degree programme?
The bachelor’s degree in Information Engineering at the University of Padua provides a comprehensive education, focusing on both the physical and mathematical fundamentals as well as various disciplines within information engineering such as control systems, electronics, telecommunications, computer science, and bioengineering. The programme aims to develop analytical, and problem-solving skills, preparing students for diverse career opportunities in both private companies and public administration. Furthermore, the high-level preparation allows graduates to pursue advanced degrees in various fields of information engineering.
The combination of online and in-person teaching methods has been highly beneficial. The practical challenges of teaching courses where programming is essential for deep learning have been addressed through continuous feedback, leading to a better and more effective teaching approach.
What have you enjoyed most about your programme so far?
Well, personally I love broadening my knowledge about computers, and coding has always been one of my hobbies. The programme has allowed me to immerse myself in courses that teach the fundamentals of computers from scratch and delve into advanced topics. I have particularly enjoyed the multidisciplinary approach, which has exposed me to a wide range of subjects within information engineering.
The hands-on laboratory sessions have been a highlight, providing practical experience and reinforcing theoretical concepts. The blend of online and in-person teaching has also been advantageous, offering flexibility and a dynamic learning environment. The continuous feedback from instructors has helped to improve the quality of teaching, especially in programming courses where practical skills are crucial. Overall, the programme has not only deepened my understanding of computers and coding but has also equipped me with the analytical and problem-solving skills needed for a successful career.
What advice would you give to potential students thinking of studying in Italy?
Studying in Italy offers a unique and enriching experience. Immersing yourself in the local culture can greatly enhance your time here. Take the opportunity to explore historical sites and engage with the local community. Learning some basic Italian can go a long way in helping you integrate and make the most of your experience.
The Italian academic system may differ from what you’re used to. Courses can be more lecture-based, and exams might carry more weight than continuous assessment. It’s important to understand the structure and requirements of your programme early on and adapt your study habits accordingly.

What do you do when you’re not studying?
When I'm not studying, I actively seek out opportunities to enrol in new courses to enhance my professional skills, particularly in coding and cybersecurity. This helps me to develop a greater ability to implement my ideas into real-world projects. I'm also active in solving coding and cybersecurity challenges on multiple platforms, which keeps my skills sharp and up-to-date.
Outside of my career-focused activities, I enjoy spending time with my friends and exploring the beautiful places in different regions of Italy. Italy's rich history and stunning landscapes provide endless opportunities for adventure and discovery. Additionally, I am learning Italian, as mastering new languages is always a satisfying endeavour for me. It not only helps me to integrate better into the local culture but also broadens my communication skills and enhances my overall experience here.
