Certificates are official documents issued by the University that certify information relating to the academic records of students at the University of Padua.
Among the different types of certificates, the University also issues bachelor's degree and master's degree/specialist degree certificates.
If you have obtained the qualification, it is absolutely necessary to check that your academic record has been updated in the Uniweb portal ("student status" section) before submitting the forms. The data update and official registration of the university qualification require a few days from the date of the graduation ceremony.
If your credentials have expired or been lost, follow the password reset procedure available on the page: https://www.unipd.it/credenziali-uniweb.
The official certificate required by international students for the renewal of the residence permit is available for download directly from the personal area of Uniweb (self-certification section).
The certificates show the career information available at the time of issue. It is therefore advisable to check, before making the request, that the data in your personal area are correct: enrolment in the academic year, recording of exam results, personal details and all other information relating to your university career.
Certificates valid for Italy are issued only in Italian and are sent in digital format. Certificates may be used exclusively in dealings with private individuals: in dealings with public bodies or private providers of public services, it is usually necessary to submit self-certifications.
To submit the request, send an email to carriere.studenti@unipd.it, stating "richiesta certificati italia" in the subject line:
- Request form (one for each career record/student ID number).
- Receipt of payment of the stamp duty to be paid virtually through the PagoPA portal: make a voluntary payment by selecting “DIDA02 - Imposta di bollo - Certificati” as the Payment reason (amount: €16 for each certificate requested), then download the receipt from the same portal (payment instructions).
- Copy of a valid identity document.
For certificates issued for Italy, some exemptions from stamp duty are provided for (Presidential Decree no. 642 of 26/10/1972, Annex B, as subsequently amended and supplemented). To benefit from the exemption, it is necessary to indicate the legal provision on which the exemption is claimed. The main exemptions provided for are:
- Certificates for applications for competitive scholarships (attach the call for applications to the request) – Art. 11
- Application of tax laws – Art. 5
Special cases
For the renewal of the residence permit at the Questura: the official certificate is available for download directly from the personal Uniweb area (self-certifications section). No stamp duty is payable and no stamps or signatures are required.
For the redemption of pension contributions: the degree self-certification with enrolment date and academic years is available for download directly from the personal Uniweb area (section self-certifications).
Digital certificates valid for use abroad are issued with a digital signature and have full legal value only in the digital format in which they are issued. For this reason, a paper copy cannot be sent. Please check the signature expiry date inside the file in the Signature Panel section. You must verify that the foreign institution accepts documents with a digital signature.
Any request to send the certificate by email to foreign institutions must be made at the same time as the certificate request.
To submit the request, send an email to carriere.studenti@unipd.it, stating in the subject line "request for digital certificates for abroad":
- Request form (one for each academic career/student ID number)

- Receipt of payment of the stamp duty to be paid virtually via the PagoPA portal: make a spontaneous payment selecting as the payment reason “DIDA02 - Stamp duty - Certificates” (amount: €16 for each certificate requested), then download the receipt from the same portal (payment instructions).
