On your arrival - Double Degree and Joint Degree Programmes
Students staying in an ESU residence can pick up their student card at the SASSA Service.
It is necessary to book an appointment for the first available date after arrival, through the reserved area of the ESU online portal ("Student Desk"), by clicking on the calendar icon at the top right.
If you are staying in a private accommodation, you must inform the Mobility Unit of the date of your arrival and the address of the accommodation.
You will also need to book an appointment to meet the Mobility Unit, in order to register your arrival and receive your UNIPD student card.
Appointments are scheduled from the week before until the week after the start of the semester.
Students will receive an email from the Mobility Unit with all the instructions on how and when to book the appointment.
Remember that your temporary numeric username to access Uniweb will be replaced by a student username after enrolment. The new username will look like:
nome.cognome@studenti.unipd.it (as indicated on your ID/passport and registered in Uniweb).
If your temporary numeric username stops working, it could mean that you have been enrolled, so you will be able to log in with your new student username.
The password set during the first account activation will remain unchanged after enrolment, but expires every 3 months.
We will ask you to sign an enrolment form after your arrival. The document will be sent to you by email: you will have to print it, sign it, scan it and send it back to the Mobility Unit.
If you are also a beneficiary of an Erasmus grant (or any other grant) and you need our signature on your arrival certificate, please let us know by email at: mobility.in@unipd.it.
Depending on your study syllabus, you may be required to pay an enrolment fee of € 205, which includes mandatory national fees:
€ 16.00 for the revenue stamp on enrolment
€ 189,00 for student services
Payment must be made through PagoPA, a system that guarantees secure and traceable electronic payments to the public administration.
To proceed with the payment, log in to your personal area in Uniweb and click on:
"Right to university education, disability, dissemination, summer courses" > "Payments".
For more information on how to pay via PagoPA: https://www.unipd.it/en/pagopa
(Please also refer to the Step-by-Step Guide emailed by the Mobility Unit.)
The application for a residence permit must be submitted within 8 working days (Monday to Friday) of arrival in Italy. The earliest day is the day after arrival.
The Mobility Unit will contact you after arrival and provide you with instructions on how to start the procedure.
Students must collect all of the following required documents:
4 passport-sized photos
1 revenue stamp of €16.00, which can be purchased in a tobacconist's shop
Health insurance: photocopy of the policy or certificate. The insurance acceptable for the residence permit must indicate an operational campus in Italy to be contacted in case of emergency. Students should be aware that the insurance used for the visa may not comply with the requirements for the residence permit
Confirmation of arrival: it will be provided by email by the Mobility Unit, certifying the date of arrival and the duration of the stay (necessary for the permit application)
Photocopy of all written pages of the passport (main page + all pages with visas and stamps)
Accommodation Contract or Declaration of Hospitality:
Students accommodated in the university residences will sign, upon arrival at the SASSA Service, a contract ("Deed of Accommodation Acceptance"): a photocopy will be included in the blue folder for the permit application
Students in private accommodation must include in the application a photocopy of the signed contract or the "Notice of Hospitality", which must be sent by the owner to the Immigration Office within 48 hours of the student's entry into the accommodation
Tax code: will be provided by email by the Mobility Unit
Once ready, the application for a residence permit must be sent in person through a Post Office (Poste Italiane). The total cost to be paid at the post office is about €100.00.
3 receipts will be issued to the post office, which constitute proof of submission of the application and contain the following information:
Sheet with the date of the appointment at the Immigration Office for fingerprinting
Receipt of payment of the application
Sheet with username and password to monitor the status of the file on the following site: https://www.portaleimmigrazione.it/
It is important to keep these 3 receipts carefully , which certify the regularity of your stay in Italy until the permit is issued in card format by the Police Headquarters. It is advisable to carry a photocopy in your wallet and keep the originals at home.
Once all procedures have been completed, non-EU students are required to deliver or email proof of their application for a residence permit to the International Office at: mobility.in@unipd.it.
In case of sending by email, it is necessary to attach a color scan or a photo for each of the 3 receipts issued by the Post Office.
The Welcome Days are aimed at all incoming students participating in a mobility syllabus and students of joint international programmes.
They usually take place at the beginning of each semester and participation is highly recommended.
