"We will never forget", said Rector Rosario Rizzuto of the University of Padua on the anniversary of the kidnapping of Giulio Regeni which took place four years ago.
On Saturday, January 25, in the Cortile Antico of Palazzo Bo, The University of Padua will exhibit a light installation entitled "Verità per Giulio Regeni". In 2016, the Italian university student, Giulio Regeni, was abducted and tortured to death in Egypt, and as such, the courtyard will remain open to the public on Saturday afternoon. This is an opportunity for citizens to give their respects and to take a moment of reflection on the importance of freedom of research and the right to knowledge".
"Giulio Regeni paid for his desire for freedom and knowledge with his own life. Giulio will live on within the University of Padua - says Rizzuto -. We dedicated the opening of the 2016 academic year to him and four years later we must continue to remember him. Today we are here, at the heart of our university, not only in memory but as an opportunity to meet Giulio's parents. Paola and Claudio Regeni have been fighting with great dignity and fortitude to find out what happened to their son, and the University of Padua community is strongly committed and united in their quest for justice. We demand to know the truth about Giulio Regeni".
