The exhibition by Stefano Comensoli and Nicolò Colciago, curated by Giada Peterle and Giovanni Donadelli, will open on Friday 19 September at the Museum of Geography of the University of Padua.
The exhibition is part of the MAPPArti project, which intertwines the cartographic heritage of the Museum of Geography with the language of contemporary art. Launched in 2023, this project invites artists to reinterpret the map as a symbolic object, a tool for knowledge, and at the same time a poetic device—an opportunity to create new narratives and enrich the collective geographical imagination.
The third edition in 2025 has selected Stefano Comensoli and Nicolò Colciago, whose artistic research has been exploring shifting landscapes for years, collecting objects, images, and fragments that converge into plural and ever-evolving archives.
Through a body of works combining prints, laser engravings, assemblages, and installations, Tropical Mind examines the maps of the Italian Military Geographic Institute as frames of observation and fields of exploration, creating an open archive where maps become Out-of-place Flowers and materials collected along the way transform into hybrid sculptures.
The exhibition, hosted in the Sala della Musica until 16 December, can be visited free of charge during the museum’s opening hours: Tuesdays (3–6 p.m.) and Sundays (2:30–6:30 p.m.).
Registration is required to attend the opening event.
