The month-long online 800 UniPD Wikipedia Edit-a-thon starts on January 22.

Aimed at all those who want to help add or edit content on the Wikipedia platform, the initiative focuses on the protagonists who, for the past 800 years, contributed to the secular history of the University of Padua.

Promoted by the Department of Historical, Geographical and Antiquity Sciences (DiSSGeA) of the University of Padua the Edit-a-thon is carried out in collaboration with Wikimedia Italia along with the Digital Learning and Multimedia office of the University.  The initiative is part of the celebrations for the University’s 800th Anniversary (1222-2022).

Participants can choose from a list of subjects to work on and develop by increasing existing information, improving content, verifying existing details and updating missing ones. Interested participants can translate existing content in other languages or create new entries on a Wikipedia sandbox test page.

Entries developed by new users are published only after an administrative tutor has reviewed them.

The Edit-a-thon subjects to select derive from Clariores, a biographical dictionary of professors and students of the University of Padua published in 2015.

Active participants who create additional content or offer suggestions, modifications, and verifications will receive a special gift from the University of Padua from a selection of merchandise celebrating its 800th Anniversary (gadgets and gifts include 12 sweatshirts and 35 tee shirts while supplies last).
