Aimed at continually improving the University of Padua as an institution of higher education and workplace that is free from discrimination including all forms of gender-based harassment and violence, a new project for the entire academic community begins. The university opens an anti-harassment listening and support point and promotes a crowdfunding campaign to finance research grants that tackle issues related to the subject. Aimed at continually improving the University of Padua as an institution of higher education and workplace that is free from discrimination including all forms of gender-based harassment and violence, a new project for the entire academic community begins. The university opens an anti-harassment listening and support point and promotes a crowdfunding campaign to finance research grants that tackle issues related to the subject. Given that these issues are rooted in society, the university will promote activities to raise awareness for the entire community, including teachers and secondary school education administrators.

As such, the launch of the UniRe - Responsible University Project, strongly supported and developed by the governance of the University of Padua and approved by the Academic Senate, offers a two-year plan funded with an investment of 250,000 euros by the University of Padua.

L’Università di Padova si propone come capofila di un'associazione temporanea di scopo che metta insieme i quattro atenei del Veneto e l’Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (sedi di Padova e Legnaro) con l'obiettivo di intercettare il finanziamento di 15 milioni di euro che la Regione Veneto ha stanziato per sostenere la realizzazione di una infrastruttura Super Computing Veneto, ovvero una rete complessiva di risorse di supercalcolo a livello regionale, a supporto di un ampio spettro di discipline, promuovendo il progresso nella ricerca e nell’innovazione.

«Questa importante progettualità è stata al centro di incontro sulle infrastrutture di calcolo avanzate che ha visto due giorni fa ricercattrici, ricercatori, tecnici informatici e persone esperte provenienti da tutte le università venete, da INFN, dalle Università di Torino e Pisa nonché dal Politecnico di Torino, riunirsi a Palazzo del Bo, sede dell’Università di Padova – dice Andrea Zanella, prorettore con delega alle Tecnologie dell’informazione e della comunicazione –. È stato un confronto informale e aperto sulle strategie di acquisizione, gestione e mantenimento delle infrastrutture di calcolo avanzate a supporto della ricerca e del trasferimento tecnologico al territorio. Una tematica strategica, considerando il ruolo fondamentale del calcolo ad alte prestazioni nella ricerca in un numero sempre più ampio di discipline - non solo STEM cioè le discipline scientifico-tecnologiche quali scienza, tecnologia, ingegneria e matematica - ma anche l’impegno economico necessario per realizzare e gestire queste infrastrutture di calcolo e l’impatto ambientale delle stesse».

L’evento ha rappresentato un’importante tappa nel percorso di armonizzazione, razionalizzazione e potenziamento di queste infrastrutture di calcolo fortemente voluto dalla governance dell’Ateneo e intrapreso sotto la guida di Andrea Zanella. Un’iniziativa che, grazie alla collaborazione e partecipazione attiva dell'Area Servizi Informatici e Telematici (ASIT) di Ateneo, diretta da Andrea Baraldo, e di numerosi tecnici informatici e ricercatori dei vari dipartimenti, ha già portato all’acquisto di macchine di ultima generazione per il calcolo ad alte prestazioni per un valore che supera i 3.5 milioni di euro, principalmente con fondi di progetti PNRR e dipartimenti di eccellenza, che andranno a rinnovare il parco macchine preesistente, migliorandone l’efficienza energetica e moltiplicando di diversi fattori la potenza di calcolo disponibile.

L’Università di Padova si propone come capofila di un'associazione temporanea di scopo che metta insieme i quattro atenei del Veneto e l’Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (sedi di Padova e Legnaro) con l'obiettivo di intercettare il finanziamento di 15 milioni di euro che la Regione Veneto ha stanziato per sostenere la realizzazione di una infrastruttura Super Computing Veneto, ovvero una rete complessiva di risorse di supercalcolo a livello regionale, a supporto di un ampio spettro di discipline, promuovendo il progresso nella ricerca e nell’innovazione.

«Questa importante progettualità è stata al centro di incontro sulle infrastrutture di calcolo avanzate che ha visto due giorni fa ricercattrici, ricercatori, tecnici informatici e persone esperte provenienti da tutte le università venete, da INFN, dalle Università di Torino e Pisa nonché dal Politecnico di Torino, riunirsi a Palazzo del Bo, sede dell’Università di Padova – dice Andrea Zanella, prorettore con delega alle Tecnologie dell’informazione e della comunicazione –. È stato un confronto informale e aperto sulle strategie di acquisizione, gestione e mantenimento delle infrastrutture di calcolo avanzate a supporto della ricerca e del trasferimento tecnologico al territorio. Una tematica strategica, considerando il ruolo fondamentale del calcolo ad alte prestazioni nella ricerca in un numero sempre più ampio di discipline - non solo STEM cioè le discipline scientifico-tecnologiche quali scienza, tecnologia, ingegneria e matematica - ma anche l’impegno economico necessario per realizzare e gestire queste infrastrutture di calcolo e l’impatto ambientale delle stesse».

L’evento ha rappresentato un’importante tappa nel percorso di armonizzazione, razionalizzazione e potenziamento di queste infrastrutture di calcolo fortemente voluto dalla governance dell’Ateneo e intrapreso sotto la guida di Andrea Zanella. Un’iniziativa che, grazie alla collaborazione e partecipazione attiva dell'Area Servizi Informatici e Telematici (ASIT) di Ateneo, diretta da Andrea Baraldo, e di numerosi tecnici informatici e ricercatori dei vari dipartimenti, ha già portato all’acquisto di macchine di ultima generazione per il calcolo ad alte prestazioni per un valore che supera i 3.5 milioni di euro, principalmente con fondi di progetti PNRR e dipartimenti di eccellenza, che andranno a rinnovare il parco macchine preesistente, migliorandone l’efficienza energetica e moltiplicando di diversi fattori la potenza di calcolo disponibile.

«Questa importante progettualità è stata al centro di incontro sulle infrastrutture di calcolo avanzate che ha visto due giorni fa ricercattrici, ricercatori, tecnici informatici e persone esperte provenienti da tutte le università venete, da INFN, dalle Università di Torino e Pisa nonché dal Politecnico di Torino, riunirsi a Palazzo del Bo, sede dell’Università di Padova – dice Andrea Zanella, prorettore con delega alle Tecnologie dell’informazione e della comunicazione –. È stato un confronto informale e aperto sulle strategie di acquisizione, gestione e mantenimento delle infrastrutture di calcolo avanzate a supporto della ricerca e del trasferimento tecnologico al territorio. Una tematica strategica, considerando il ruolo fondamentale del calcolo ad alte prestazioni nella ricerca in un numero sempre più ampio di discipline - non solo STEM cioè le discipline scientifico-tecnologiche quali scienza, tecnologia, ingegneria e matematica - ma anche l’impegno economico necessario per realizzare e gestire queste infrastrutture di calcolo e l’impatto ambientale delle stesse».

L’evento ha rappresentato un’importante tappa nel percorso di armonizzazione, razionalizzazione e potenziamento di queste infrastrutture di calcolo fortemente voluto dalla governance dell’Ateneo e intrapreso sotto la guida di Andrea Zanella. Un’iniziativa che, grazie alla collaborazione e partecipazione attiva dell'Area Servizi Informatici e Telematici (ASIT) di Ateneo, diretta da Andrea Baraldo, e di numerosi tecnici informatici e ricercatori dei vari dipartimenti, ha già portato all’acquisto di macchine di ultima generazione per il calcolo ad alte prestazioni per un valore che supera i 3.5 milioni di euro, principalmente con fondi di progetti PNRR e dipartimenti di eccellenza, che andranno a rinnovare il parco macchine preesistente, migliorandone l’efficienza energetica e moltiplicando di diversi fattori la potenza di calcolo disponibile.
