Inaugurated on May 29, 1995, the installation artwork Resistenza e Liberazione by Jannis Kounellis was part of Italy’s 50th anniversary commemorating its liberation from the fascist regime, which was first declared a national holiday on April 25, 1946. Located in the New Courtyard of Palazzo Bo, the University of Padua commissioned the art installation in 1994 to bring recognition of the heroism of those who fought in the Italian Partisan Resistance. A small plaque that reads, “to the civic devotion and the actions of Concetto Marchesi, Egidio Meneghetti, and Ezio Franceschini (University of Padua professors), as well as those of the University who knew how to unite different ideologies and cultures in the concerted struggle of the people fighting to regain freedom for Italy.”

Thanks to the Alberto Peruzzo Foundation, the installation artwork of Jannis Kounellis has been the subject of a careful and uncommon method of restoration. The artist intended to allow the work to deteriorate with a purpose and the natural phenomena that he foresaw affecting its aesthetics. Carried out with assistance from Archivio Kounellis, the restoration method included cleaning and strengthening that guaranteed its structural integrity and continued historical and symbolic value over time.

The installation is a highly symbolic work in line with the University’s traditions, which is 1945, was awarded the Italian Gold Medal for Military Valour for its role in the Resistance. According to the artist, the site-specific installation in Palazzo Bo, the heart of the University of Padua, represented an important stage in his career. Kounellis rarely had the chance to create a work of public use in such a large dimension, and at the same time, of great social value. His commemorative work quickly provoked heated debate by the community due to its unique aesthetic nature. Over time, initial doubts came to pass, and today it is a symbol of precious value linked to the history of the University and the city of Padua.

La rettrice Daniela Mapelli dà il benvenuto a studentesse e studenti che dopo il diploma hanno scelto l’Ateneo di Padova per i propri studi universitari.

L’appuntamento, aperto dai saluti della rettrice e del sindaco Sergio Giordani, vede la partecipazione del delegato alla comunicazione e alla divulgazione scientifica Telmo Pievani e racconta le esperienze di studio, ricerca e vita di tre protagonisti del nostro territorio il cui impegno ha dato fama e autorevolezza nel proprio settore.

Sono presenti all’incontro:

Francesco Bettella
Pluripremiato nuotatore conosciuto a livello internazionale, predilige lo stile libero e il dorso. Le prime paralimpiadi cui partecipa sono quelle di Londra nel 2012. Nel 2017 ai mondiali di Città del Messico conquista due medaglie d’oro e l’argento in altre due gare delle successive paralimpiadi a Rio. Da Tokio 2020 porta a casa due medaglie di bronzo nel dorso maschile.

È stato insignito del prestigioso riconoscimento del collare d’oro al merito sportivo.
Non solo atleta, ma anche studioso, si laurea in ingegneria all’università di Padova dove attualmente svolge attività di ricerca di ingegneria industriale per il miglioramento degli ausili per le persone con disabilità.

Stefania Gobbi
Padovana, da sempre amante dello sport, a 13 anni si innamora del canottaggio, seguendo le Olimpiadi di Pechino del 2008 e i successi del suo concittadino Rossano Galtarossa.

Nell’agosto del 2013 è prima medaglia d’oro mondiale nella specialità del quattro di coppia femminile del canottaggio italiano. Si allena alla Canottieri Padova per poi entrare a far parte del gruppo Sportivo Carabinieri. Nel 2017 e nel 2019 vince la medaglia di bronzo in canoa in coppia.
Alle olimpiadi di Tokio nella specialità canoa per 4 porta l’Italia al quarto posto. Vicinissimo l’ultimo successo dell’azzurra, che proprio nel 2021 conquista l’oro ai Mondiali di Coastal Rowing in Portogallo. 

Gaya Spolverato
Laureata a Padova nel 2010, consegue la specializzazione in Chirurgia generale nel 2017 a Verona. Pluriennale la sua esperienza negli Stati Uniti d’America, tra Baltimora e New York. Ha partecipato a numerosi progetti scientifici e fondato Women in Surgery Italia, l'associazione chirurghe italiane di cui è presidente. È delegata per le pari opportunità dell'Università di Padova.

Amante dell’atletica e della corsa, da molto giovane pensava che il suo futuro sarebbe stato proprio nello sport; poi il destino ha scelto per lei un’altra strada.

Conclude il pomeriggio Damien McFly, eclettico cantautore padovano, porta il suo saluto in musica a tutte le nuove matricole Unipd.
Il suo stile unisce una voce cruda e graffiante alle melodie profonde del folk, lasciandosi tuttavia influenzare anche da altre sonorità come pop, rock ed elettronica. Dal 2015, anno di pubblicazione del suo album d’esordio Parallel Mirrors, la sua musica ha letteralmente girato tutto il mondo, portandolo a esibirsi con più di 500 concerti in 15 Stati, tra Europa e Nord America. Nel 2018 a New York vince nella categoria Folk il premio del John Lennon Songwriting Contest e una menzione d’onore all’Unsigned Only Music Competition di Nashville. No Connection è l’ultimo singolo che anticipa l’uscita del suo prossimo album.

La rettrice Daniela Mapelli dà il benvenuto a studentesse e studenti che dopo il diploma hanno scelto l’Ateneo di Padova per i propri studi universitari.

L’appuntamento, aperto dai saluti della rettrice e del sindaco Sergio Giordani, vede la partecipazione del delegato alla comunicazione e alla divulgazione scientifica Telmo Pievani e racconta le esperienze di studio, ricerca e vita di tre protagonisti del nostro territorio il cui impegno ha dato fama e autorevolezza nel proprio settore.

Sono presenti all’incontro:

Francesco Bettella
Pluripremiato nuotatore conosciuto a livello internazionale, predilige lo stile libero e il dorso. Le prime paralimpiadi cui partecipa sono quelle di Londra nel 2012. Nel 2017 ai mondiali di Città del Messico conquista due medaglie d’oro e l’argento in altre due gare delle successive paralimpiadi a Rio. Da Tokio 2020 porta a casa due medaglie di bronzo nel dorso maschile.

È stato insignito del prestigioso riconoscimento del collare d’oro al merito sportivo.
Non solo atleta, ma anche studioso, si laurea in ingegneria all’università di Padova dove attualmente svolge attività di ricerca di ingegneria industriale per il miglioramento degli ausili per le persone con disabilità.

Stefania Gobbi
Padovana, da sempre amante dello sport, a 13 anni si innamora del canottaggio, seguendo le Olimpiadi di Pechino del 2008 e i successi del suo concittadino Rossano Galtarossa.

Nell’agosto del 2013 è prima medaglia d’oro mondiale nella specialità del quattro di coppia femminile del canottaggio italiano. Si allena alla Canottieri Padova per poi entrare a far parte del gruppo Sportivo Carabinieri. Nel 2017 e nel 2019 vince la medaglia di bronzo in canoa in coppia.
Alle olimpiadi di Tokio nella specialità canoa per 4 porta l’Italia al quarto posto. Vicinissimo l’ultimo successo dell’azzurra, che proprio nel 2021 conquista l’oro ai Mondiali di Coastal Rowing in Portogallo. 

Gaya Spolverato
Laureata a Padova nel 2010, consegue la specializzazione in Chirurgia generale nel 2017 a Verona. Pluriennale la sua esperienza negli Stati Uniti d’America, tra Baltimora e New York. Ha partecipato a numerosi progetti scientifici e fondato Women in Surgery Italia, l'associazione chirurghe italiane di cui è presidente. È delegata per le pari opportunità dell'Università di Padova.

Amante dell’atletica e della corsa, da molto giovane pensava che il suo futuro sarebbe stato proprio nello sport; poi il destino ha scelto per lei un’altra strada.

Conclude il pomeriggio Damien McFly, eclettico cantautore padovano, porta il suo saluto in musica a tutte le nuove matricole Unipd.
Il suo stile unisce una voce cruda e graffiante alle melodie profonde del folk, lasciandosi tuttavia influenzare anche da altre sonorità come pop, rock ed elettronica. Dal 2015, anno di pubblicazione del suo album d’esordio Parallel Mirrors, la sua musica ha letteralmente girato tutto il mondo, portandolo a esibirsi con più di 500 concerti in 15 Stati, tra Europa e Nord America. Nel 2018 a New York vince nella categoria Folk il premio del John Lennon Songwriting Contest e una menzione d’onore all’Unsigned Only Music Competition di Nashville. No Connection è l’ultimo singolo che anticipa l’uscita del suo prossimo album.
