Satoko Shinjo completed her Ph.D. in 2013 at Keio University (Japan), where she worked on a comparative analysis of the unfolded protein response caused by small molecules. She conducted her postdoctoral studies at Waseda University (Japan) under the supervision of Prof. Nobuhito Goda where she broadened her research interests to the metabolic disease and to the organelle contact sites. After another work focusing on mitochondria-ER contact sites on pulmonary arterial hypertension under the supervision of Prof. Susumu Minamisawa at The Jikei University School of Medicine in Japan, she was awarded Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowships from the Uehara Memorial Foundation, which was carried out at the Department of Biology, University of Padua, under the supervision of Prof. Luca Scorrano. In 2019, she was awarded the “Seal of Excellence @UNIPD” 2-year fellowship from University of Padua. She will carry out her project MERRY: exploring Mitochondria-Endoplasmic Reticulum juxtaposition Regulation by protein palmitoYlation, as PNRR Young Researchers, with the continuous supervision of Prof. Luca Scorrano.
