Katy Elizabeth Medrano Uribe obtained her Master's and PhD degrees at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México under the mentorship of Prof. Luis D. Miranda. The main research of her projects was based on the derivatisation of multicomponent dehydroamino acids using polar and radical reactions. After the PhD, Medrano carried out teaching activities as Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at one of the most prestigious private universities in Mexico (Universidad Iberoamericana). In 2022, she was awarded the MSCA Seal of Excellence and the Young Researchers- SoE fellowship (PNRR) through the European Union – NextGenerationEU funding. The same year, she joined the Department of Chemical Sciences (DiSC) at University in Padua as RTDa (type A fixed-term researcher). Under the supervision of Prof. Luca Dell'Amico, she is developing new organic photocatalysts to be applied in synthesising bio-relevant compounds.
Katy Elizabeth Medrano Uribe is actively involved in dissemination activities for the Latin American chemistry community. She is a member of the LatinXChem organisation and part of its Scientific Committee.
