Fatima Zahra Fakir holds a PhD in Economics and Tourism, which she pursued under joint supervision from the Universities of the Balearic Islands (Spain) and IBN ZOHR University (Morocco) in 2021. Her doctoral research focused on the development of a sustainable tourism model for mass seaside destinations, specifically examining Majorca and Agadir. Currently, Fatima is working as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Padua (as host university), actively engaged in the "Smart Cultural Padova" project with the esteemed collaboration of the Department of Economics and Management (DSEA). The primary objective in this project is to propose an innovative model for a smart cultural destination, integrating the destination's rich cultural and historical heritage with modern smart tools, including mixed reality. The ultimate aim is to promote sustainable smart tourism while preserving and enhancing this valuable cultural wealth. The project is under the supervision of Silvia Rita Sedita, and in collaboration with other members of the Department of Economics and Management "Marco Fanno".
