Welcome Day for the new students of the University of Padova

The Rector will welcome all students who have just enrolled in the first year of their degree programme at our University. 

Federico Taddia will lead the event, with the participation of Massimo Cirri and of the comedian Giovanni Vernia. Three researchers of the University of Padova, winners of a European Research Council Starting Grant, will tell the students about their successful experience in research:

  • Alessandro Metlica (Dept. of Linguistic and Literary Studies), researcher in comparative literature;
  • Elisa Cimetta (Dept. of Industrial Engineering), specialized in microtechnologies applied to biomedical research;
  • Manuele Faccenda (Dept. of Geociences), who studies geodynamics.

All participants will receive a complimentary aperitif at the Café Pedrocchi, the most renown and historical coffee bar in town. This will be accompanied by the music and entertainment offered by RadioBue.it, the web radio channel of the students of the University of Padova, with the participation of the student representatives of the traditional association Tribunato degli Studenti.

Guided Tours

In the morning of October 5th all new students are invited to visit the most famous University sites:

  • Botanical Garden, the most ancient in the world, dating back to 1545, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1997: at 10:30 and 11:15 – meeting point: the entrance of the Botanical Garden, via Orto Botanico 15.
  • Bo Palace, main building of the University where the podium of Galieo Galilei and the famous anatomical theatre can be seen: at 12:30 and 13:15 – meeting point: the Ancient Yard (Cortile antico), Palazzo Bo, via VIII Febbraio 2.

Only first year students enrolled at the University of Padova are admitted to the visits. Booking is not required. Entrance is free but availability is limited.
